Finishes!

Here is a picture of the sailboats I won at the last guild meeting. I got a few striped fabrics so I can make a few more of the sailboats to make them into a quilt.

Here is the baby quilt for my nephew's little boy. Very similar to the one for Aidan as they are the same fabrics. I only have a little bit left of the doggie print....which will either end up in some I spy quilts or a female version with purple and greens. Haven't decided yet.

So, this week I just need to attach the hanging sleeves to the Green/brown quilt and the baby quilt so they are all set for the quilt show April 10+11.
Warming up this week and the rain should be stopping. Looking forward to getting the kids outside to play as they have been cooped up inside for quite a few days now.
Time to get everyone dressed and ready for the day so we can head off to the gym this morning.
Hope you all have a great quilting day!

Winnings!

I've been pretty lucky at the last few quilt guild meetings. In January, I won the prize for making a charity quilt - these fat quarters.

Last month (Feb) at quilt guild I was a big winner.... I won the BOM blocks of sailboats and the monthly guild drawing. In my monthly winning bag were the following: a book on redwork, a seam ripper, a measuring tape and these pretty fat quarters.

In February we had a local speaker who had some gorgeous fabrics for sale... I just had to have a few and this is what I purchased.

At our March meeting we did a lot of talking about our upcoming quilt show on April 10+11 and we had a vendor from Rouses Point, NY there.... and as I was in a spring mood with the lovely weather we had that week I seemed pulled towards the greens. This is what came home with me...

I guess I didn't have a pic of the sailboat blocks.... I'll lay them out and snap a picture later this week. Sounds like someone is really not going to nap this afternoon and the other one is waking up so better go get the monsters.

Oh, I also finished the baby quilt top a few minutes ago... it is the same doggie fabrics with blue and yellow with a little different pattern this time. Will post a photo of that (hopefully completed quilt) later this week.
Happy Quilting.

A new quilt!!!!

Well, I had found out around Thanksgiving that my nephew in Colorado is expecting a baby in June..... I was waiting to find out boy/girl. My niece let me know it is going to be a little BOY! So, since Aidan loves his doggie quilt so much and I had a bunch of the doggie print and the blue and yellow that go with it, I've decided to use that to make a quick baby quilt. I started it on Tuesday and it is going together well and quickly. Since we needed more quilts for the quilt show next month.... I decided I should have this one done and entered it. Now I really need to get working on it and get it done. It will be 50x50 and just a four patch of the blue/yellow with a doggie square in between. Hopefully it won't be too busy with the bright fabrics.
It has been a busy week. Took the kids with me to bowling on Tuesday night and Greg picked them up there since he had to work late. It was nice for some of the ladies I've bowled with for years to see the kids that they hear so much about! Wednesday night was quilt guild... I actually brought the finished (yup, binding was complete) quilt for Mom and Greg's to show in our 'show and tell'. Of course, there was a vendor there and I just had to have 4 of the fat quarters so they will show up in something later this year. All but 1 were green..... must be a spring thing! Yesterday my sister called in the morning, she was at a conference 20 minutes from me and had a 75 minute lunch break and wanted to know if we'd meet her for lunch! So, the kids and I got in the car and headed to Friendly's for lunch with her yesterday. The kids did great in the restaurant. Today, after the gym we headed to the mall to have lunch with some friends of mine. They haven't seen Aidan in over a year and Emily at all (she'll be 1 in a few weeks!). The kids were really good for lunch although a little sleepy as Emily really didn't nap in the car this morning at all and it was after 1 when we left.... past Aidan's nap time! I think we'll stay home tomorrow and play outside as it will be beautiful weather - 60's and sunny, really warm for March in Vermont!
Wow, 2 posts in one week! I hope to have the baby quilt top done this weekend so I'll post a photo when the top is done.
Happy quilting all.

Pictures!

Here is a couple pics of the 'finished' quilt. I just need to trim up the threads and finish the last side of the binding tonight. I just did a big meander in the middle blocks, outlined the block border and did a vine/leaf in the two white borders.

I made the two hanging sleeves yesterday, just need to attach them to this quilt and the green/brown one I made for Greg a couple of years ago.
I also made my guild BOM yesterday - a 3-D turtle! The head and tail are 3-D.

Almost Done!

I just have the outermost border to quilt on my 'Summers at the lake quilt'. Then make and attach the binding and the hanging sleeve. I should get it done in time for the show in April! I also have to make and attach a hanging sleeve for my DH's quilt to hang in the show as well. They were short on quilts so I decided to show that one too. That will be a bunch of hand sewing for me the next couple of weeks. I'll post a pic of the quilting later this weekend when I am done.
Just back from stroytime at the library with the kids. Everyone has had lunch, just need to change Aidan's diaper so we can go outside for a walk/stroller ride and then some outside playtime before they both take naps this afternoon (OK, I'm just hoping that Emily will take another nap since she had a short one this morning rather than her 3 hour one).
Happy quilting everyone!

Wonderful March!

The time sure does fly by. Aidan is now 2...and I know it! Emily will be 11 months old on Sunday... where has the time gone?
I have had some progress - Mom's 'Summers at the Lake' quilt has the top finished and it is pinned and the quilting has started. I really need to get that done in the next week or so. That way I can get the binding done and the hanging sleeve attached well before my April deadline. I decided on a plain white border, then a 3 inch square block surround then a wider white border. I am just doing a meander on the middle, might do some specialty quilting on the borders... depends on how many needle breaks and thread breaks I get. I'm on needle number 3 and too many to count thread breaks and only 9 blocks (of 36) quilted. I just cleaned the machine, changed the bobbin thread to bottom line and hopefully I'll have better luck this evening.

Emily is awake - need to go get her changed and fed some lunch.
