RSC in blue....

I think I am finally all caught up with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge sampler blocks.... until she posts the next one! I had issues with that tic-tac -toe one and just added the light all the way around to make it the correct size. I guess mine will be truly unique!

I seem to not have very much variety in my blue scraps this year - I think I must have really cleared them out last year making my double bed size wonky log cabin. Hmmmm... maybe I can work on getting that one prepped for quilting next week. It would be great to get that one finished so I can put it on my bed. All the fabrics for this were from my stash and most of the block construction was from the scrap bin. I did purchase a 104 inch backing for this - much easier than piecing one this size.

I decided to make some churn dash blocks this year and while attempting to tame my scraps and cut them into some usable sizes I am making sure to do some 2.5 and 1.5 inch strips to make these little blocks. Lots of taming to go and one more week to get it done. These will be all colors through the year.

Head on over to SoScrappy on Saturday morning and see what other projects are being made with some blue scraps. There were over 50 links last week and I admit - I am still working my way through them! Lots of temptation with so many neat projects.

I accidently cut that tic tac toe one to six inches and had to start over! The second time I started out with a bigger square and it was too big but I cut it down, lol!

Love your collection of blues! Do you think I should change the directions for tic-tac-toe to start with a larger square just to be safe? Mine worked out, but I can see how easy it would be to end of short. The churn dash blocks are just adorable. Such a nice block to start collecting. Glad to hear you are running low on blue -- just the right reason to shop a bit.

Especially love the log cabin quilt! My hubby has asked for a red, white & blue log cabin, and yours is great inspiration!

Lots of pretty blues here. Your log cabin quilt will look gorgeous on the bed. I can see why you want to quilt it sooner than later.

Nice blocks and you've done a lot.
That's a good idea adding a border to the tic tack toe. Mine ended up on the small size too, but, even though the seam allowance is less than a quarter inch all round, I decided to leave it as it is.

Ahhh, blue and whites (or perhaps I should say blue and lights) ... my favorite quilty combo!! Yours are fabulous!! Although I admit that I'm especially partial to the churn dash blocks ... that's still on my list, and after seeing yours, I think it might have gotten bumped up a little higher! ;-)

Your sampler blocks look great and so do your Churn Dash blocks. Looks like you've done a good job of scrap busting this month.

Some great work this month. My tic tac toe block is a bit wonky but I like it. I started out with an 8" square and trimmed it down. It gave me some wiggle room. Love that blue and light log cabin quilt.

Oh, that's a gorgeous log cabin and it doesn't look wonky from here. And who doesn't like a churn dash?

I'm trying hard not to start another project but it's getting hard to resist when I am seeing everyone's cute little blocks. And your blocks are no exception. They look fabulous! Looking forward to seeing your churn dash project develop. It's one of my favourites too. Great work on your log cabin!! That is such an achievement!
