Forever Leader and Ender project.

I have this basket of 2 inch squares next to the sewing machine. When not working on other things and I need to get to what is under the needle, I pull 2 squares and sew them together. I believe the idea is to make a very scrappy irish chain quilt with it. I really need to do some cutting of the scrap bins to refill the color and light options sometime soon. I'll also need to start working on the alternate block but... that would involve a decision on what color to use as the light... keep it scrappy or use one fabric? Until I decide, I'll just make more of these!

Perfect plan if you ask me!

I think it will be great without planning - just sewing those squares together. ~Jeanne

I'm doing something really similar with my 2.5" squares. I have been making 16 patches and found a pattern called Sunny Skies, that has trapazoids in a v shape that I hope to use. I'm in the process of finishing up the 16 patched, but have a light chosen to make the alternate block. I love these as my leader enders. I've also been cutting 2.5"x5" pieces and sewing those together and cutting them apart as well, since they go even quicker.

A contrasting block sounds like, a good idea.

Light color scrappy alternate blocks would keep the theme going. Great collection of squares. Isn't it amazing how much can be accomplished in the background between other seams?

Lots of pretty colors in your blocks. Happy stitching this weekend.
