It always takes longer. I did machine quilting around each of the colored kites. Then I did sets of 3 lines in the border. I used the cut off backing to make the binding and machine stitched it to the top. I started hand stitching the binding last night. The dog was in the study with Greg, so the cats came out to explore. Peanut did some quality checks. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I see a quilt finish this month!</div><br /><p></p>Deb Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04206921657695916898noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763380526259722932.post-4922241116608269942024-03-17T12:14:00.000-04:002024-03-17T12:14:01.497-04:00Sunday<p>I have enjoyed a very lazy start to Sunday! I slept in past 9AM and then got busy throwing a corned beef with some potato, carrots and onion into the crock pot for dinner tonight. I'll grab a little of the juice to add to the cabbage which I will steam in the pressure cooker later tonight. I do love my cabbage cooked that way! The kids will be expecting some Irish soda bread to go with their meal this evening. Yummy!</p><p>The dog got a walk well after 10:30 and it was getting a little bit hot here in Florida. I believe we are expecting mid 80's and sunny today. The pool looks so much better after some attention at the end of the week. I just need to test the water and adjust the chemicals, but it is sparkling clear again. </p><p>My plans today are to putter in the sewing room and machine quilt the scrappy kites quilt and get the binding made and attached. Stitching it down by hand will be my stitching this evening. I was able to pin it last night, so it is ready to go.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg72bVLHDTM1yZonYQgJKH5t51y_jPV7Q5JJX_fUkTPWBygmTjCVcsi0e2peLWU3_mmS5c7Gmyun4_uJ3tWSatI3HIEyErCY-3vPMZjPG7aC1MHf6CTQe6qBl0b-EB-aTlbxxBpMsmt1z9MxW_KvgMMLcPJN_ERuZ7xC9FvnQjAXbXnH6hL2xZNrQlwgRFs/s2048/432936751_10224730739155387_4226000917430512879_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg72bVLHDTM1yZonYQgJKH5t51y_jPV7Q5JJX_fUkTPWBygmTjCVcsi0e2peLWU3_mmS5c7Gmyun4_uJ3tWSatI3HIEyErCY-3vPMZjPG7aC1MHf6CTQe6qBl0b-EB-aTlbxxBpMsmt1z9MxW_KvgMMLcPJN_ERuZ7xC9FvnQjAXbXnH6hL2xZNrQlwgRFs/s320/432936751_10224730739155387_4226000917430512879_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><p>I watched a video this morning on <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqv-Yk6d-5U" target="_blank">how to color your embroidery projects.</a> Melisa at <a href="https://pinkernpunkinquilting.blogspot.com/search/label/Hearts" target="_blank">Pinkernpunkin blog</a> has some adorable heart embroidery stitcheries she is releasing each month this year and I love the look the coloring adds. A little circle will be added at the middle spot, but I'll hold off on adding them as I am not sure if I want a sunny yellow for all of them or a shade of the middle colors. Plenty of time to decide. That will hopefully be remedied this weekend. I did finally start the string of beads blocks in purple and got these two completed. The green outer peels will be consistent throughout the quilt. I have the peels traced onto the next background and the reds are ready to go.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaJOL0zwHkm9SYkSKcp03unQuOIpSGBN5Xl5PQKufeM2nmz4mHPdYjZ8DhBtOD4ec_6Ko4WGVNnpM07tU7jALxb-Z4qX_W7r39zEqYEgNEcvANXtns_MQCrQqePDZ3b_y-HViHiIPvsYxBcHqKLWWKf9b50fWhieMPRKmCu2jzxMkz0M619FGmP3DeB3he/s2048/430661546_10224723331010188_324135666157276547_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaJOL0zwHkm9SYkSKcp03unQuOIpSGBN5Xl5PQKufeM2nmz4mHPdYjZ8DhBtOD4ec_6Ko4WGVNnpM07tU7jALxb-Z4qX_W7r39zEqYEgNEcvANXtns_MQCrQqePDZ3b_y-HViHiIPvsYxBcHqKLWWKf9b50fWhieMPRKmCu2jzxMkz0M619FGmP3DeB3he/s320/430661546_10224723331010188_324135666157276547_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I did a lot of digging and made a backing with leftover backings for this little quilt. Sigh. A relief to be at this point with a Saturday 'go' day. I'm off tomorrow and will ride with Emily this week after we bring the doggie to the vet for his annual checkup. He gets some anxiety meds tonight and tomorrow morning. </p><p>I had pulled out a package of boneless, skinless chicken thigh from the freezer yesterday and tonight they were baked with a <a href="https://www.ruled.me/crispy-curry-rub-chicken-thighs/" target="_blank">crispy curry rub</a> in one of my stone wear pans and served with some rosemary herbed roasted red potato and some buttered corn. Yummy!</p><p>I added a few stitches to the peels this afternoon and have one purple block completed!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimkX_8sVPJmvd5L3uFLnGfUwFs8mSf9BTW5EJ6ZusDpBPIeJjsSjMQDPN3zSrnae0xz5-T9e74I2EXYDKcjVRCIknnoMntyvmF9vQmZiChwiYhIUW2aTOAOXP4XgSLOiTdaPVE3okEA8dmj1wvH4rV8j1K9Y2I5-tp1eUjSGomz_k2BtcDdCPttwrxh0RC/s320/432870638_10224716715604807_6395309285396455181_n.jpg" width="240" /></div><p>I went out to toss some watermelon to the chickens since Aidan and Bear were out back. I got distracted while walking to get eggs and ended up brushing down the pool, which needed a clean, a shock and a quick clean run of the motor overnight. It should clear up most of it that I have been neglecting the last few months. A little more work on it tomorrow and it should be ready to adjust the chemicals and be ready for swimming for the weekend, if they want. I need to pop out and check for the eggs. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRARpryAm-ckVQ9OBj_ic-VdhQ5ztEQDM-7xvux0S6CwMH6XmF9vioQgCT0rtDdejCtifxKtfrQJiNe1aRUhLfpfCLIbhtT8uHRHnaTno58ZmEZQ7ur_5DDPUMgAq-0KnL3lMm0XCU5MTCFVeOtzCmyJSULtbCbbG3OtjK9RjcVvKatAERTxFgum31CE1d/s2048/430857829_10224716715804812_7124079853203890441_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRARpryAm-ckVQ9OBj_ic-VdhQ5ztEQDM-7xvux0S6CwMH6XmF9vioQgCT0rtDdejCtifxKtfrQJiNe1aRUhLfpfCLIbhtT8uHRHnaTno58ZmEZQ7ur_5DDPUMgAq-0KnL3lMm0XCU5MTCFVeOtzCmyJSULtbCbbG3OtjK9RjcVvKatAERTxFgum31CE1d/s320/430857829_10224716715804812_7124079853203890441_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Good thing I did! I guess I only got one or two yesterday morning and no one else collected since then! There are 3 greens, 3 light brown and one dark brown. The girls are laying like crazy, and we are getting 4-5 eggs a day. I just put 10 in the pressure cooker for hard boiled eggs. I have 2 dozen regular eggs in the fridge and 18 in the round egg holder on the shelf. Since they are backyard eggs and not washed, they can be at room temp just fine. I picked up heavy cream when I ran to Aldi at lunch, so I think I'll be making some creme brule tomorrow, deviled eggs with those hard boiled ones and I'll have to see what other things I can do with some eggs. I'll ship 18 off to my MIL's friend Betty, the next time we see her. We usually send a dozen or two down for her and my FIL to have but we have not been going down with Andy in the hospital, and now in a nursing home rehab facility. </div><p></p><p>While chatting with my Mom this week, I saw this bird out my window. Aidan did let me get a selfie of us in the stands and we got a photo of us on the track after the race. He even brought home some tire bits. He got quite fried with the sun on Saturday, and I imagine having the sun hit that sunburn on Sunday was not fun. Me - I looked horrible but I didn't get a burn with the floppy hat and the 'fishing' long sleeved lightweight shirt over my t-shirt. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAywayavsVhJU0lswqrrgYhXPSv8DCvDEKYflBJEbFnjp17ZbZ-5R4wrvYj4mDcA5qENho9b2rqgMMLO5Nt_dYXtt7XiJDSfPV1G4f00ADCuEg8izuD9IwOdg1EX6o-SDUqadMaP2kFRFGTkSTv2Wijbmv1EWRHvBV8c-DZ0ABN83hZTFhaTkPN_4ftUKt/s2048/430034844_10224706160100926_5824900599748999806_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAywayavsVhJU0lswqrrgYhXPSv8DCvDEKYflBJEbFnjp17ZbZ-5R4wrvYj4mDcA5qENho9b2rqgMMLO5Nt_dYXtt7XiJDSfPV1G4f00ADCuEg8izuD9IwOdg1EX6o-SDUqadMaP2kFRFGTkSTv2Wijbmv1EWRHvBV8c-DZ0ABN83hZTFhaTkPN_4ftUKt/s320/430034844_10224706160100926_5824900599748999806_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy9VZwJ2Bzhh2limcw1xXrbWNza79EIl9Wd7BG6GJmzDHT6Q0O0pHIDVEwX2_IuylASIU1z95jUfAUJ0WaJS7m5v_H4jUCOj6BfumvGgqmJKwFpKwaAYqnG2se6ypo-knor7trcyHaJTKXeO-qxV4YEVV3cVNY0SlzhDsk6kWYngziG19T5VxYPfP-gggE/s2048/430090755_10224706159540912_3720521978138198542_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy9VZwJ2Bzhh2limcw1xXrbWNza79EIl9Wd7BG6GJmzDHT6Q0O0pHIDVEwX2_IuylASIU1z95jUfAUJ0WaJS7m5v_H4jUCOj6BfumvGgqmJKwFpKwaAYqnG2se6ypo-knor7trcyHaJTKXeO-qxV4YEVV3cVNY0SlzhDsk6kWYngziG19T5VxYPfP-gggE/s320/430090755_10224706159540912_3720521978138198542_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjPC8KgXLdTNHQmjXmxS3PGNwl7G8cCqGP0mJXpO4_0tqQMNvvSAQf0twI3z8kHMho1c8x-dfA199twahGMGAWWjjXu8eZa89B5iAdLMvp8BY3xUfcXsdO5S5jfZCIr865MlB7BO2KBzUhLJmH2zZICUkLH-dMTHHUae2phQA_1QOs_1UQNXDOuQ4Xg5_R/s320/430760385_10224706158380883_4559964005354239699_n.jpg" width="240" /></div><p>We did have a great weekend in St. Petersburg. You have to have your permit for a year in Florida before being able to get your license. He has done the hours of driving with us over the year. Emily might do a riding lesson during the week to check out a new facility and the dog has a Vet appointment Thursday morning. His lifespan more than doubled his twin, who died in his early 40's. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I'm hoping to get a little sewing in this week and maybe some painting in the front rooms. I did not work (actual work) today! I didn't get much done on the sewing front, was not feeling it.... but I did get to go ride a horse and chat with the ladies in my group! We were running a bit late today, so I went directly from horses to get the kids from school.</p><p>I did make some progress, though. I had started applique of the peels for the string of beads block this month in purple. I think I just could not see it in red, so was happy purple came up this month. The original quilt I saw was in green and purple ages ago. It made purple easier to start for this block. Lets just say, my normal way of 'winging' it did not go well. I did a few YouTube videos and saw someone who drew the outline on the fabric to applique and on the background. Why didn't I think of that? So... today I grabbed one of the white print squares for the string of beads block and drew the 8 orange peel shapes onto it. I also grabbed a scrap of darker purple and traced and cut out 4 of them. I unstitched the 3 lighter purples from the original background and started over on the traced block. Yup, that went a lot better and now I'm over the hurdle on that! </p><p>I was able to get these 3 stitched before I headed to horses. I'll add that last one on tonight and then will add the dark green to the outer edges. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb9sHhiH4z39wZkCnrDwFJX9Y6FVY-GNRBCWcPts8GI4o1lWta_9cqEfe9nIcjulpNLUclzErZONLfXC3MLOod1ZLFuVpgoM3tmyZiYA1DivOq7nMqIRY2z5vRhukcmb_8gb-QX8xPMdT1smbqK8kIMoalGh5WcGb4EXWTwNfj_wyazj57XINAl6aYakQ5/s2048/430096627_10224693973516269_2328804265268070507_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb9sHhiH4z39wZkCnrDwFJX9Y6FVY-GNRBCWcPts8GI4o1lWta_9cqEfe9nIcjulpNLUclzErZONLfXC3MLOod1ZLFuVpgoM3tmyZiYA1DivOq7nMqIRY2z5vRhukcmb_8gb-QX8xPMdT1smbqK8kIMoalGh5WcGb4EXWTwNfj_wyazj57XINAl6aYakQ5/s320/430096627_10224693973516269_2328804265268070507_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>Wednesday after school, I picked up the kids and headed across town to get to the area for the dedication ceremony of the Silver award lending library the girls made last fall. My step-FIL was in the hospital for a few days last week then released for the weekend. Things were ok- crazy changes in bp and other issues, until Tuesday when they got weird. No energy, hallucinations, etc. He waited until Wednesday morning before going to the ER. He was admitted and things are not going well. He is 90 years old, had a major heart attack 20 years ago and his cardiologist has been very surprised he is still alive the last 5+ years! So, we are just trying to support my MIL as best as we can. I swear this man has about 20 lives so far with all his health problems, so we will wait and see what happens. Just to throw another log on, my Dad was at his cardio rehab and they didn't like a number on the machine so they wheeled him to the ER on Wednesday too! It turned out that it was ok, and all other numbers were normal for him, so they let him go home pretty quickly. Maybe it was too much celebrating my Mom's 85 birthday on Tuesday!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> Sunday, Aidan and I took a drive over to see my FIL (Greg's Dad) and drop some things to him. His hip is doing better, and he is getting around ok. Greg and Emily will head over this weekend to see him. Aidan and I will be in St. Pete watching cars go around the track for 2 days. Let's hope the rain holds off and the sun hides behind the clouds. It is going to be a hot one on Saturday! The kids have one last day of school before spring break. They don't go back to school until Tuesday the 19th. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>Deb Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04206921657695916898noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763380526259722932.post-55367483511936570082024-03-01T10:40:00.002-05:002024-03-01T10:40:51.605-05:00A border was added<p> This has been the only sewing this week!</p><p>I looked at the wall of fabrics and pulled out this pink to audition for the kites border. Another gem from that mystery box! I had enough to make a 5.5 inch strip all around so it added 10 inches to each side. A little bigger for a nice size kids quilt. </p><p>When will it get finished? Who knows. We will see how the weekend goes but it is possible I'll get a little sewing time in.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSIPLtork0prPeaY1-A6AsJKwd8Qa15mAhKy54AHy-RSsiyqpm17ZAET4kXc91h7fmynK2-CNJCzzEmmKy8y_tN_TrONXWwmwM_HuxEjq4Uq1aJkTr1jZ8ngThsyEoR2oyrzrOQW1WXIvzijdFj9ziM2gFmotmuoq_jrQ519GsSiD86CW2bvjONB0C5Tkd/s4032/20240301_102901.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSIPLtork0prPeaY1-A6AsJKwd8Qa15mAhKy54AHy-RSsiyqpm17ZAET4kXc91h7fmynK2-CNJCzzEmmKy8y_tN_TrONXWwmwM_HuxEjq4Uq1aJkTr1jZ8ngThsyEoR2oyrzrOQW1WXIvzijdFj9ziM2gFmotmuoq_jrQ519GsSiD86CW2bvjONB0C5Tkd/s320/20240301_102901.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><p>Emily had her MPA (music performance assessment) for the symphonic band last night. They did 3 pieces for the judges, then did 2 sight reading ones. They had a 3 minute review without instruments with their director, then played. The second piece, they had 5 minutes to review, then played. They preformed at 9pm. Then the sight reading was at 9:30. We got home around 10:30. They did well.</p><p>Work is crazy right now, so I did extra hours this week since I was out last Friday. Deadlines. </p><p>Briskit is in the oven for a long slow cook. It was yummy! Then I headed over to a local high school to watch 6 middle and high school bands preform their symphonic band selections for the MPA. This was the Pre-MPA where judges give them some feedback on their performance before the actual MPA next week. </p><p>Thursday it was drop the kids to school, walk the dog then a quick shower before bringing the car for a new tire. Seems there was a nail in the back tire, not surprising with all the construction house zones we drive through at least 4 times a day! Then it was off to the villages to get my FIL and take him to his doctors appointment and pick up a script for him. We did not have time to do the x-ray his doctor wrote a script for, as I had to get him home and pick up the kids from school. Friday, I took the day off. I got the kids to school and the dog walked and then headed with Greg to his appointment for an MRI of his back. We were halfway to his Dad's, so we continued on and I dropped Greg off and loaded his Dad into the car to bring him for the x-ray on his hip. I got home to drop Greg off about the time I normally leave to go pick up the kids, so I headed back out to get the kids. I was in the car pretty much from 8-4 yesterday!</p><p>Today is a dog walk and then horses with Emily. I might need to grab a few things and pop over to my FIL's as well as he is low on the ensures and juice. So, another day in the car for me. It tends to be about 3 hours to go over to my FIL's and back. Horses is usually a good 3 hours as well in the other direction. </p><p>I think I need a vacation!</p><p><br /></p>Deb Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04206921657695916898noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763380526259722932.post-65202018263350631612024-02-19T18:36:00.001-05:002024-02-19T18:36:09.059-05:00Kites is a top<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBk4hHW4nhjb0fmluDNGGRQVoNyg2km6_I4C-LRCOMZk7sZMU-FFT53eYEU-f_hfCbXtl8U4_IiZ5LLYg_RpzYA5E2Ji6RuBq8bBZO_U8VYhYXCKFzF9_nGACCHtyhZkgNDVTBTbEOW0NgASRFRLmRCnGAYKVGU0uTe5ltRbc7-KEuLKBsWJPFueFxL6O1/s320/20240219_150612.jpg" width="240" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I got a little sewing time in Monday and made a couple more of the kites to get the number I needed for this top. We will see what I can pull from the stash wall. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Greg is a little better and can move pretty good once he is up. It is just the sitting down and getting up that is an issue and painful. A bulging disk will do that. I have a feeling I'll be doing the kid morning drop off and potentially his and his Dad's doctor appointments later this week. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I had some baby bella mushrooms, half a bag of spinach and frozen chicken breasts. I entered that into the magic line on the internet and hit enter. I found <a href="https://whatsinthepan.com/chicken-in-creamy-parmesan-mushroom-sauce/" target="_blank">this recipe</a> and gave it a try. Not bad! I served it with angle hair pasta and a tossed salad. I defrost my chicken breasts in a big bowl of cold water in the microwave. They were huge, so I cut them into thinner pieces for the 5 minute cooking time on each side. My handy dandy thermometer verified they were up to 165 temp before I pulled them from the pan.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I'm off to ride as Aidan drives to his guitar lesson tonight and hopefully I can do my meeting at 7PM for the planning of the April encampment in Tampa on my phone while he is in his lesson. </div><br /><p></p>Deb Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04206921657695916898noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763380526259722932.post-29762629634761063892024-02-19T10:51:00.001-05:002024-02-19T10:51:46.851-05:00Weekend Wrap Up<p> Well, for a 3 day weekend it has not gone to plan. Friday night, after getting the kids from school, Aidan decided to start hacking away at the 2 shrub roots that need to come out so I can pull the car into the car canopy nicely from the rocky parking area. It is a chore. Greg went out to put on my new wiper blades on the car and to twist in the 2 tie downs for the canopy. He managed to put his back out leaning down to put the first tie down into the ground! The man is in a world of hurt but would not go directly to quick care. Of course, it was evening, so the VA was closed. He decided to sleep on it, then wait until after we were back from horses on Saturday. So, a few hours at horses (it is 30 minutes away and tack up, barn time and they got a long lesson in the light drizzle then untacking), then a quick lunch and it was off to the Quick Care/ER for his back for a couple of hours. We were impressed with the doctor - who didn't even look at the computer but started asking questions to find the root cause. A CT scan later - and spinal stenosis (we knew), bulging disk (suspected) and a few other things we knew. A couple of shots and he was headed home. I did pick up a book to bring with me and I got a bit of progress on that!</p><p>Sunday - the kids headed to Grandma's, and I did a little cooking and some sewing. I made my Mom's tomato soup with 3 beefsteak tomato's sitting on the shelf going bad. The tomato's with salt and pepper, then after warmed and breaking down a bit I added a little baking soda to bubble it up! (a half or tsp maybe?) then added the warmed milk and the cooked elbow macaroni. That's the soup I grew up with!</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijw8r41rHm5QLAfmrtty8JYo4B60PC3TXFTJpWOXdtqfHjNDN_9jUUiqv0e41ys3llp7ZBcwHiv5t1Q6GixWQXIJzYMXPL7vmVpQnY4iCe3sn0PGWn9FtDSw9i5lk9wD3LesKUhXNzFYl6yH4rkwD_j6_eXlCmi9cQwTLUAEuA_vW5W71XISufK-trKCrV/s2048/428632678_10224614967701173_3095859484619609810_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijw8r41rHm5QLAfmrtty8JYo4B60PC3TXFTJpWOXdtqfHjNDN_9jUUiqv0e41ys3llp7ZBcwHiv5t1Q6GixWQXIJzYMXPL7vmVpQnY4iCe3sn0PGWn9FtDSw9i5lk9wD3LesKUhXNzFYl6yH4rkwD_j6_eXlCmi9cQwTLUAEuA_vW5W71XISufK-trKCrV/s320/428632678_10224614967701173_3095859484619609810_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>Then I really wanted cornbread, so I made that later in the afternoon with some chicken chili. I did head over to pick them up early for a little game playing. We did Domino's from double 6 to 12 and I managed to win one game. I think Emily kept going out on the other ones. </p><p>For my time in the sewing room - I had picked out fabrics for my 3 red AT blocks. I managed to cut and sew 2 of them on Sunday. I think I will unpick the main seam and see if I can get the centers to match a little better today, before I cut and sew the 3rd block.</p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHtT3UyTWngSirlTlVCKmsds6G4Lemxn6KnwR3THfXnXygUsyRmi2h4AqAyAwmOAJD5Wrtf8XViMB3dJYG3_R0_gMI0tFhfULKNFk7poxGIjiETTxw5e0_c5jc9dbVxa99T8CcuMLIW0O4NqURzEF5bh7TdI4btz7SVyrPqp19UAdAFSfQAMIb0LZ-K9ks/s2048/428633269_10224620161791022_5186183048520302082_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHtT3UyTWngSirlTlVCKmsds6G4Lemxn6KnwR3THfXnXygUsyRmi2h4AqAyAwmOAJD5Wrtf8XViMB3dJYG3_R0_gMI0tFhfULKNFk7poxGIjiETTxw5e0_c5jc9dbVxa99T8CcuMLIW0O4NqURzEF5bh7TdI4btz7SVyrPqp19UAdAFSfQAMIb0LZ-K9ks/s320/428633269_10224620161791022_5186183048520302082_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I had a few minutes before picking them up, so I started hand quilting the cats. So, it still hurts a bit. I did not walk the dog Monday and Tuesday, and that helped but he really needed the exercise, so I walked him yesterday and this morning. Other than the initial pull from being excited for his walk, he has been good. I did call off horses this week and probably next as well to see if I can get it back to normal. </p><p>Not much stitching has happened, I've been doing nice hot bubble baths at night instead! </p><p>Meals (that ever troubling 'What's for dinner?')</p><p>I pulled out some pork chops from the freezer on Monday and had Greg bake those with roasted potato and green beans (rosemary herb on the chops, Montreal steak seasoning on the beans and salt and pepper and a drizzle of oil on the red potato's). I was picking up Emily from symphony band practice. His back is hurting after putting up the car canopy Sunday (aren't we a pair!), and his reasoning skills are off, so dinner was a little late. He read my instructions wrong. It was good when it was ready though! I had it all prepped on 2 sheet pans with notes written for times and what goes in when. </p><p>The kids didn't want the Gordon's fish filets for dinner, so they got fresh salmon and Greg and I had the frozen fish. Spoiled kids. I emptied a couple of bags from the freezer with a little sweet potato fries and tater tots with veggies. </p><p>Wednesday - I made a <a href="https://whatmollymade.com/healthy-instant-pot-mongolian-beef/" target="_blank">Mongolian beef and broccoli in the quick cooker</a> served over rice. The kids finished their salmon (it was a Sam's club filet!) and then ate some of what I cooked. I was a little surprised there was only rice leftover! I guess they liked it. </p><p>Today was going to be nachos and taco meat for taco's or salads... but then I remembered the chicken empanada's in the freezer and gave the kids the choice. Empanada's it is! Leftover rice and probably a salad for some veggies.</p><p>I did work on finishing the thread basting on the cat and mouse quilt and just took it off the frame! Lots of pins to remove it from both edges of the leaders. Some got done and after 2 hours, my back was done. I might have added a little more this morning and helped Greg put the car canopy back up to protect my car from the unforgiving sun here in Florida. Let's just say, I know I have a back! It will be a bubble bath night again this evening, I think. </p><p>Aidan was my helper yesterday and he did a great job weeding out back for me and moving some plants. He is helping Grandma today with hanging some things outside and I hear he will be raking up the mulch along one side of her house so she can have him put fresh down next weekend. </p><p>I also had horses with Emily in the late morning and then Aidan drove me to the mall to return a sweatshirt he got last weekend with Grandma and to sniff all the candles at Yankee Candle and pick up his free birthday candle. I was impressed, we were only in that store for a little over 30 minutes! Aidan loves smelling candles! I picked up a couple that were half off - a spring meadow and a snowflake one for Christmas time. </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiu5i-cVotsJ429r6JcR4b__7M5RTvp1ktXz6jVB_SKNIbyk94LrRQoNH_so8PzwdzFWr7D8mOM72HqPOgZIQpCvxxzFoUuYKXJLwCzsv0KbM4K9a-0YyVLpJo205nuxHVy8mpqea2ibb3qeBofkYerYletWePFjvMrNt85OzgzMrb-oWyztpMU_1uksQy/s2048/427790733_10224572513919855_4096796597394610958_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiu5i-cVotsJ429r6JcR4b__7M5RTvp1ktXz6jVB_SKNIbyk94LrRQoNH_so8PzwdzFWr7D8mOM72HqPOgZIQpCvxxzFoUuYKXJLwCzsv0KbM4K9a-0YyVLpJo205nuxHVy8mpqea2ibb3qeBofkYerYletWePFjvMrNt85OzgzMrb-oWyztpMU_1uksQy/s320/427790733_10224572513919855_4096796597394610958_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>Today, I've got cocktail hotdogs and a handful of frozen meatballs in the crockpot with a jar of chili sauce and 8 ounces of grape jelly. It makes a yummy sauce for them! A dozen eggs got hard boiled as well, the ladies are providing 4-5 eggs a day now. We did send a dozen to Grandma as well. I think we all had eggs this morning too - I had a breakfast burrito and the other 3 made eggs with some kimchi. I made the mistake of taking the kids to Publix after school on Friday to pick up mozzarella and 2 pizza dough's for dinner that night. We had a lot of deli pepperoni since the boy used to put that and salami with provolone on a hoagie roll for lunch before the braces went on. They made a pizza and a stromboli that night for dinner. They got stuck in the international aisle for about 20 minutes. $50 later and I got out of the store. Seems all 3 of them like the kimchi, so I guess we will have to try and make it sometime. <p></p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyJlv6igTIBfFoXQXTgORtiZ0yeNzHAsq5SdQOAY-DIiQmMplcyIPonzNw3zkw5LcMGDq1Adl9XqSKiNCtLvC-vJBGp4OiWL1f4gS49CGmvPKHdYPwA-ijKSm5I0s4AyFvRBpw5BGUK8yAn-1nF_WqlNi4Y1Y81TCXEaFgmEr414wPY8XYpRJf5Wv2BgRP/s2048/427800162_10224572513719850_7268604674786160941_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyJlv6igTIBfFoXQXTgORtiZ0yeNzHAsq5SdQOAY-DIiQmMplcyIPonzNw3zkw5LcMGDq1Adl9XqSKiNCtLvC-vJBGp4OiWL1f4gS49CGmvPKHdYPwA-ijKSm5I0s4AyFvRBpw5BGUK8yAn-1nF_WqlNi4Y1Y81TCXEaFgmEr414wPY8XYpRJf5Wv2BgRP/s320/427800162_10224572513719850_7268604674786160941_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">chickens in the shrubs.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaz_K7DZWAffEkIFgrY-3oUVFbKi_91CvGm8XIW862EiFjY4BgNn-4xEWnwGyve3HnSrLX7INZmQqje52em_GOeKk4gkg51KRjy57AsGqxbe0ttiS-lMH2NXfXVwvBAkEXxelnTSvY1w9qxHdlRaFWF2qXmLwAvtNevNn9JZ0274lms2zzln2x6J1PbVJP/s2048/427805504_10224572699684499_3618393030634129572_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaz_K7DZWAffEkIFgrY-3oUVFbKi_91CvGm8XIW862EiFjY4BgNn-4xEWnwGyve3HnSrLX7INZmQqje52em_GOeKk4gkg51KRjy57AsGqxbe0ttiS-lMH2NXfXVwvBAkEXxelnTSvY1w9qxHdlRaFWF2qXmLwAvtNevNn9JZ0274lms2zzln2x6J1PbVJP/s320/427805504_10224572699684499_3618393030634129572_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">colorful eggs - 2 lay green, the barred rocks lay the light brown and one rhode island red lays the dark brown one. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The girls have been getting out of the run time this week. Well, today's was planned. They managed to escape a few times earlier this week. The zip ties we had disintegrated in the sun, and they had some openings in the wires. We have new zip ties and I think we have it secured again. We had fenced off an area by the master bedroom, since the dog used to get in there and terrorize the cats in the window and put holes in my screens. I decided to take the fence down yesterday - the dog seems to be a lot better now and it will let Aidan get in there to mow. It is a wee bit overgrown. The chickens love that area, so I am hoping they will scratch it all up for me. </div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjL2z8ppIPKAujj-8n4GtRTLdlybv-N1bHNat6sqPhIOkrWJZ8Qq85QWsD5LxeSNttOgvGlKjL6_WAt4p9AY42XVs0TNP4hcjmtlnY_YaT8vSJ02wkaOSE_Js_hhJB2RxRO91FagIBIdtavOHdgXBB1EzzXGXhrnTo7EpJJeHYeR9kdKGjDUiPOQrktzGPJ/s2048/427868274_10224572513479844_5624027512565550723_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjL2z8ppIPKAujj-8n4GtRTLdlybv-N1bHNat6sqPhIOkrWJZ8Qq85QWsD5LxeSNttOgvGlKjL6_WAt4p9AY42XVs0TNP4hcjmtlnY_YaT8vSJ02wkaOSE_Js_hhJB2RxRO91FagIBIdtavOHdgXBB1EzzXGXhrnTo7EpJJeHYeR9kdKGjDUiPOQrktzGPJ/s320/427868274_10224572513479844_5624027512565550723_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I'll be 'resting' the rest of the day and basting the cat and mouse quilt on the frame. Note to self, pay attention to where the bigger triangle is used because 2 matching square parts will not make a heart top! I have a hook up on the wall by the hutch near the entryway from Christmas decorations. It is empty right now, but I think this little heart hanging will look cute there. I hope to get this to a little quilt finish sometime this weekend, just in time to have up for Valentines Day. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiegbQcycBpJ91UAZK8Xg_3T6eXHCJUBSpOurJO1Mwu2H1v0ABis3oDBsBAcWCdqoOgwZZmSvTWe4HSQ4jW1bir6slVJzLGfgg1vQpJLk0FofgzKSPKpfpXnU4AKVaFN0goUawVZ4fXPz4IZ89x0d2Yq-XWAfN5W8rnMyR71qzx9-vLR39xbpMjfA1ng93Z/s2048/426870467_10224563469893760_7450207389474537238_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiegbQcycBpJ91UAZK8Xg_3T6eXHCJUBSpOurJO1Mwu2H1v0ABis3oDBsBAcWCdqoOgwZZmSvTWe4HSQ4jW1bir6slVJzLGfgg1vQpJLk0FofgzKSPKpfpXnU4AKVaFN0goUawVZ4fXPz4IZ89x0d2Yq-XWAfN5W8rnMyR71qzx9-vLR39xbpMjfA1ng93Z/s320/426870467_10224563469893760_7450207389474537238_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I did get the <a href="https://vtquilter.blogspot.com/2024/02/harmony-is-top.html" target="_blank">Harmony blocks completed </a>and hand stitched together to form a top this week. I have a 3 hour timeframe to sit at a Gold Awards workshop with Emily, so you can bet I will be stitching. I did a little prep work yesterday. I had to recut and mark some parts for hand stitching after I swapped the colors and stitched them up a few days ago! Mistakes do happen.</p><p>I'll be working on stitching the correct triangle in a square units (with the white triangles not red like I did a few days ago!). Those will be added to the flying geese I stitched last night.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYXz8I1qEU2Ia4sAq_jJyrvV86JOKInwRxOD7rB9cjoDlI-rYUvLhCHpqspvgQh0QlUB5ZlMmhzZhk0LBJoPuIqzkPa3_53nBgbB-K9YxGeGAtuLjze1-bo_7u8OErwt_eD4dWZdUDAyF2Xc8VbN-p8cmbWuClmkH-Zl1CNfQeDuBpXeHUMsXEfkcNu0EC/s2048/423194051_10224498773396388_4801075397983492334_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYXz8I1qEU2Ia4sAq_jJyrvV86JOKInwRxOD7rB9cjoDlI-rYUvLhCHpqspvgQh0QlUB5ZlMmhzZhk0LBJoPuIqzkPa3_53nBgbB-K9YxGeGAtuLjze1-bo_7u8OErwt_eD4dWZdUDAyF2Xc8VbN-p8cmbWuClmkH-Zl1CNfQeDuBpXeHUMsXEfkcNu0EC/s320/423194051_10224498773396388_4801075397983492334_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaIN-R4jMrJFqTfeBei-SJCjnUS7-3VW7ox79rdmh3D_1OwmKipSCjlMteamC8NOtHYuNr95Lo-7OCqsSzih_e-Hz_YSXIWTMfzp7K-y5rgrA6mbmSFKaIq_v3oEwo-aF4X1e_UAtwXjHkXJYh92sOdpSv7F-EtGSiQAElK7nIEOVzNOGpQfTurhR3fjcD/s320/423194237_10224498773156382_7052428381674359346_n.jpg" width="240" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">They go in the middle sections.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjmOMjBf8hYNCAdfF0I9h5M8n1Av9niKyf69FxwzgJch7r4fZ1AMrLiZEvN-Yxdu77itqfVAAKEAX1RoU37lve5uj3s8hrBwnQs20k91xZ07-dzc7CniY2GOI6Fw42DuD7y2AtrZ2OmnZ5gu6HL_sVV7JTfj-6TCxH5iU0TOBk9hgmXcMLeI1sFd5wA6kF/s2048/423223411_10224498774116406_877519639178757818_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjmOMjBf8hYNCAdfF0I9h5M8n1Av9niKyf69FxwzgJch7r4fZ1AMrLiZEvN-Yxdu77itqfVAAKEAX1RoU37lve5uj3s8hrBwnQs20k91xZ07-dzc7CniY2GOI6Fw42DuD7y2AtrZ2OmnZ5gu6HL_sVV7JTfj-6TCxH5iU0TOBk9hgmXcMLeI1sFd5wA6kF/s320/423223411_10224498774116406_877519639178757818_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Might this 4th and final Harmony block get completed today? They assured me it should work, so my plan is to work on that this week and get that one off the frame and start working on it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiU6N8oQQaDfv220X9dmSTsB-BnOoSz7sCdQTuCZzvy0AFoOfoAJpIrvRAErmdGPcqYDfOO00-OcYdGSHYC3MAhpbIqdBdIPT65Mc68DrALTveOfNo6ZDJK4DvH7DhokLUaYYX4-8n9YQQw2kZKahjoSdcKgS_p_6E1H4kUeUvQYZKV5rqt_3kxHy-oxeu/s2048/298495920_10221479341712483_3118951739347261014_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiU6N8oQQaDfv220X9dmSTsB-BnOoSz7sCdQTuCZzvy0AFoOfoAJpIrvRAErmdGPcqYDfOO00-OcYdGSHYC3MAhpbIqdBdIPT65Mc68DrALTveOfNo6ZDJK4DvH7DhokLUaYYX4-8n9YQQw2kZKahjoSdcKgS_p_6E1H4kUeUvQYZKV5rqt_3kxHy-oxeu/s320/298495920_10221479341712483_3118951739347261014_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Linking up with Kathy and the <a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Slow Sunday Stitchers.</a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>Deb Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04206921657695916898noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763380526259722932.post-78429279255063024992024-01-26T12:48:00.001-05:002024-01-26T12:48:10.234-05:00Back to square 1<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8uOlTnU1WpEW_an8J3fsHH656HT3ui4o6jFh1JmTeK1ATb_stH1cZBiA6BQisr7EC0Tcjx_HuXHkKq-Y7rrjYKqbMJ5o7XinZDhK_Y6VG66FhW0mLmyui6vL_1rLpW9vOVSjIzfMda6d2hwC5gxE7Fpcw2cg9CY3bU-04V3zij1m8jWeGtN2ul-DAnYDW/s2048/421702375_10224490572751377_7125426345469864153_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8uOlTnU1WpEW_an8J3fsHH656HT3ui4o6jFh1JmTeK1ATb_stH1cZBiA6BQisr7EC0Tcjx_HuXHkKq-Y7rrjYKqbMJ5o7XinZDhK_Y6VG66FhW0mLmyui6vL_1rLpW9vOVSjIzfMda6d2hwC5gxE7Fpcw2cg9CY3bU-04V3zij1m8jWeGtN2ul-DAnYDW/s320/421702375_10224490572751377_7125426345469864153_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Wednesday night I cut out the needed parts for the rest of the last Harmony block. The red was to be the outer part and white in the middle. Back to the drawing board, or cutting board if you will. At least the flying geese are fine, but these will need to be cut and marked for sewing. </div><br /><p></p>Deb Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04206921657695916898noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763380526259722932.post-66093125457761067372024-01-25T14:36:00.003-05:002024-01-25T16:29:17.996-05:002024 Table Scrap Challenge.<p> Joy is hosting the Table Scrap Challenge again and is spicing things up with a theme this year. January is snowflakes....and the RSC color is Green. An interesting combination. </p><p>I just happen to have some fabric with snowflakes on a green background. How lucky is that?</p><p>I was playing with my tri recs rulers last night to prep the last parts for Harmony... and I decided to use them with this fabric. I made 4... thinking I would make them into a star. Then got thinking and remembered some trees I had seen. Hmmmm. I had just enough of the green to make the middle tree in reverse colors. A quick grab of the brown from that scrap bucket and a set of 5 trees were soon stitched and placed together. I decided it needed to be a little bigger, so I added a 2.5 strip all around it in white. </p><p><br /></p><p><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghfzNhtrS_lWCceS9oVmQUTJw3v-_5hj6gvF2hYG5R6BOQNGpZv8fg9fAfO594oGSZRu2Z8Z4oh4gqWSZ2VELnhv3I3enr6UAPmr7N4j7XNpzmbTFBnEAVaVmXepzRSC8S5DD_B6CdEGb-3I8J2VekOvi_eIIuHae-B-j5RvlimLRpm4s4CXtBe2xgJVD2/s320/421492511_10224486704974685_2952823052102012911_n.jpg" width="240" /></p><p><br /></p><p>I picked up the pile of batting from the floor (shhh. yes, my studio is a mess!) and tossed the little bits and zig zagged these two bits together to made the size I needed.</p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsVS5m8lcjVjfProntHl-ALxuqXb6opQ7vrHzJzgCpDloJ_2i-kJOD4DQOXrlETAlBZqCfSIQ9weKgfVG-qOCVLDI0yHhyphenhyphenWRYQsFRcIfeiUwEupbQA-RtOx0-c59PNVwyAgcmnq8rzy4qeFmbIfzAqAEPLGrWmb7Ii-tTzLgEWCbnDEzRSlvrqUubJNxul/s2048/421576176_10224486705574700_4693513090055934899_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsVS5m8lcjVjfProntHl-ALxuqXb6opQ7vrHzJzgCpDloJ_2i-kJOD4DQOXrlETAlBZqCfSIQ9weKgfVG-qOCVLDI0yHhyphenhyphenWRYQsFRcIfeiUwEupbQA-RtOx0-c59PNVwyAgcmnq8rzy4qeFmbIfzAqAEPLGrWmb7Ii-tTzLgEWCbnDEzRSlvrqUubJNxul/s320/421576176_10224486705574700_4693513090055934899_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I did just some outline stitching with my walking foot around the trees and outlined the outer area around the trees. I have the four corners all stitched. I need to cut and prep the flying geese and triangle in a squares for the middle sections. I should be able to do that later today. </p><p>No riding tomorrow as I managed to tweak my back and pulled a muscle. Good news, I was able to sleep fine last night and today it is not bad, but I'll baby it for a bit. Seems if you bend and reach across your body to grab something from the floor, you can pull a muscle in your back and ouch! I might have done it twice within 2 hours. The first time was not bad, the second I really felt for a while. I guess the hexagon quilt will not get pinned tomorrow, that would be too much bending and stretching. I should be able to play with the machine though! I need to work on my table scrap challenge project - green and snowflakes. It should be fun!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKg4b4_Rb6WR4QDqvOd2GfgdwGzqGOmkMIMqJhLKk8z179YroqnxZEb47czShWyKTdFsqC0rutIZ-4Ouibq8ElqfLQhy-qpFg7lMM07QHUXDH138yEbZK8QTfQb8JNNs6d10svgj8pPmyrdSMI0ZrJH1G8lPkakyfvha3KfFZD3UKn4cLExxbaShzy_RQn/s4032/20240124_090224.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKg4b4_Rb6WR4QDqvOd2GfgdwGzqGOmkMIMqJhLKk8z179YroqnxZEb47czShWyKTdFsqC0rutIZ-4Ouibq8ElqfLQhy-qpFg7lMM07QHUXDH138yEbZK8QTfQb8JNNs6d10svgj8pPmyrdSMI0ZrJH1G8lPkakyfvha3KfFZD3UKn4cLExxbaShzy_RQn/s320/20240124_090224.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><p></p>Deb Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04206921657695916898noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763380526259722932.post-76785277995902827632024-01-21T11:14:00.004-05:002024-01-21T11:14:47.546-05:00Weekend<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Last Sunday's stitching got these into a top. I was planning a small yellow border then my black butterfly one, but I thought it was too bright. I went with a 2 inch light/bright blue instead. It will finish at 1.5 inches and then I'll add a 5.5 inch of the butterfly fabric around the outside today. I'd love to get it pinned for machine quilting, but I doubt that will happen today. Progress at least! I believe it will finish at 85x 97. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYmpqAueT731qo13BSyZh0ZjWPclQI6DiyyBuRf_48psJ9LbpdLj8EXmAeuTEygH32zXK4rM0UqPJQoPEKnTsl4ZBuUYGY7xK9-25StzqCm7BqG4E2UzP59m3EBCJXV1GfwTKbqpygPSRymiZ1_1VuGzUVR4uVZ4PNTsxDCugplZMf-lDBxcPPTNfakXo3/s320/420663061_10224468448558286_4439930169199198158_n.jpg" width="320" /></div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcS0kBsqlt6tqxRdmLuFAZKg44ZY4aW2r1LEPj64-_Q51Fnnq_pQwPdkotMsA95bjvtldEBEFFr5ecHz3NCAljDaGzgIy5g5FXsCYz1FklsXFOIEbVmvV6Wlg1PJ8FQLjGlTc0eSuqFoZzQ59u2drRlvhP_DxDxGFTHx1uIbtRh7a0fhd-bpN_4HY9DCep/s2048/421674242_10224468447118250_5280021756736580939_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcS0kBsqlt6tqxRdmLuFAZKg44ZY4aW2r1LEPj64-_Q51Fnnq_pQwPdkotMsA95bjvtldEBEFFr5ecHz3NCAljDaGzgIy5g5FXsCYz1FklsXFOIEbVmvV6Wlg1PJ8FQLjGlTc0eSuqFoZzQ59u2drRlvhP_DxDxGFTHx1uIbtRh7a0fhd-bpN_4HY9DCep/s320/421674242_10224468447118250_5280021756736580939_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I love this butterfly fabric I found. I held both bolts along rows of various colors and decided the darker hunter green will make the selected colors pop more. We will see how it turns out! For a 60x60 wall hanging, I'll need 25 blocks. The inner 4 peels will be colors other than green. The green will be the outer 4 peels.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7gAWjuW0F2wzt48tbk1BSifeFH4bSi9J76q4OoT91o04_XxlixIRWRbL2H_oGoiyJOjKsaNZVqB2xXseAgptHw9aCARyIUUGPCDALUaPwNrtyFQVeAW3wqjYddNPUcSjrUjVirTI0Zn0bnfa2CArxYCkXQfmYPn_EQRySYDNCLjZ98ymQhl4eZRS1yU-X/s4032/20240121_105717.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7gAWjuW0F2wzt48tbk1BSifeFH4bSi9J76q4OoT91o04_XxlixIRWRbL2H_oGoiyJOjKsaNZVqB2xXseAgptHw9aCARyIUUGPCDALUaPwNrtyFQVeAW3wqjYddNPUcSjrUjVirTI0Zn0bnfa2CArxYCkXQfmYPn_EQRySYDNCLjZ98ymQhl4eZRS1yU-X/s320/20240121_105717.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiheXm53De4gGmfzV0SNl5PURyg51yoVa3npOqGjDpub0pOrlOwNSjVbv8s-a6kSJ9zs3e-J9hhf2ieVUiOGUBINTOo3sB862sEtM52ikgGCbHcpwHBnr1yF3ndnbvB0ClXirmBm5kx9bsnNT3Vlmb-6roleCewW5BOGxL1Idg1PB_oWhYhxIUw-zvidBIx/s320/string%20of%20beads.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="320" data-original-width="240" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiheXm53De4gGmfzV0SNl5PURyg51yoVa3npOqGjDpub0pOrlOwNSjVbv8s-a6kSJ9zs3e-J9hhf2ieVUiOGUBINTOo3sB862sEtM52ikgGCbHcpwHBnr1yF3ndnbvB0ClXirmBm5kx9bsnNT3Vlmb-6roleCewW5BOGxL1Idg1PB_oWhYhxIUw-zvidBIx/s1600/string%20of%20beads.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">linking up with <a href="https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Slow Sunday Stitchers</a> and the <a href="https://superscrappy.blogspot.com/2024/01/scraphappy-saturday-3-2024.html" target="_blank">Rainbow Scrap Challenge</a>. I did get my walk with the dog, my riding lesson and was able to pull Aidan from school for his orthodontist appointment. Not a bit of sewing or prepping yet today. I'll add a few stitches into Harmony after I finish this post.</p><p>I decided I needed help coming up with recipes for meals this year, so everyone gets a week to come up with a few meal ideas. Some went with tried and true and some went with new things. </p><p>Greg had his Birthday week which was back on the 11th. He mentioned tacos and my Mom's spaghetti meat sauce. I added meatloaf one night that week as well. A leftover night and a take out from Pig and Cattle (birthday boy choice). I had gotten a roaster chicken Saturday at Sams that week after picking up a kid from volunteering at a robotics tournament. It was dinner that night and chicken chili the next night. There were no leftovers of the chili! I guess they liked it on a cool night. The corn bread disappeared as well!</p><p>This week was Emily's ideas. Aidan had picked out pork chops at Sams, so I have 3 meals of them sealed in the freezer and some were cooked Monday night with garlic mashed potato and peas. Tuesday was Emily's selection of <a href="https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/a25658914/pepper-steak-recipe/?fbclid=IwAR1BTpBDhNeH9M8UUwnagwHiFTjCf3KDUkkZtMY9MGKCmiMDAyOp6BNDhZk" target="_blank">Pepper Steak</a>, which I had peppers that needed using. It was good and added to the rotation. I had gone to the Farmers Market Saturday and got some eggplant and brussels sprouts. I had brussels sprouts and bacon one day for lunch. Wednesday, I did an eggplant parmesan for dinner and Em and Greg made pasta and finished off the spaghetti sauce. Tonight, Aidan was a big help cooking while I prepped Emily's second recipe of the week - <a href="https://www.justonecookbook.com/simple-chicken-curry/" target="_blank">Japanese Chicken Curry</a>. Who knew they did curry in Japan? I read up a bit on it and it turns out it is a common meal there! We even had the curry roux in the international aisle at the store! It took a good hour to make it and we had it with the recommended rice. We all agreed it was really good and we should make it again. Aidan didn't like the carrots in it, but I thought they were really good. There is enough for another meal. It is not spicy at all, more like a savory/slightly sweet stew over rice. Aidan is looking at recipes from the Georgia/Polish regions. We will see what he comes up with. </p><p>While trimming the skin on bone in chicken thighs for the recipe tonight, I threw those extra parts into the crock pot with some water, onion, carrot, celery and garlic with some frozen parsley stems. A little salt and pepper and thyme and it is in the crock pot for the night on low to make some broth. Some sort of soup will be made this weekend with it as a cold front goes through. I'm thinking potato leek, but we will see. Maybe a Zuppa Toscana? I'll see what I feel like tomorrow or Saturday.</p><p><br /></p><p>Harmony - I cut and pieced these twisted triangles a couple of nights ago, the only tricky one to piece in this project. I had a set of 4 of the other parts needed, except one of the houses with the triangles at the top. One of those stacks only has 3. I made 4 based on my blog post in 2021, so I have no clue where he is hiding. I'll cut out another one tomorrow to stitch up this weekend. I can begin making the other 3 corners, so I'll work on that tonight. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVHFtfaevHarINKGgOwJ-_homihGsAExbqZLHmLUqW04b4cvLiNhQnMA0JXaLyaTjQGmjOhGjN6_v8eYgkFdC5N6mpHwCAt9_GaT2l8rekiuOssy2ZrUg5AtXVqm940h2FEyG-2zsl2ufxkPOOAOF2DXCXZbKVMxcPEXyz9CfVYMWCi_1iEI3fez8x_Ry1/s2048/420349154_10224457393761923_7983851022978164864_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVHFtfaevHarINKGgOwJ-_homihGsAExbqZLHmLUqW04b4cvLiNhQnMA0JXaLyaTjQGmjOhGjN6_v8eYgkFdC5N6mpHwCAt9_GaT2l8rekiuOssy2ZrUg5AtXVqm940h2FEyG-2zsl2ufxkPOOAOF2DXCXZbKVMxcPEXyz9CfVYMWCi_1iEI3fez8x_Ry1/s320/420349154_10224457393761923_7983851022978164864_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWhmOURBHK5o56CpS9xt40hSlGiIbzm6MHbeVpypFoML6C9rS5keF5JxOdm792VhoYV3hJsJ9cmM3sx__vF8YJA0Z2ymRKPsyO8XVTGPcHwB_4155em1ljSMmVhlLPuntjSaRTIMMEVIOBeyjbwq683Vn_1XXtLS_RQGYANO4W06fBNzI9x1LeTgzgAbi7/s2048/420602311_10224457395121957_5167846426515727027_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWhmOURBHK5o56CpS9xt40hSlGiIbzm6MHbeVpypFoML6C9rS5keF5JxOdm792VhoYV3hJsJ9cmM3sx__vF8YJA0Z2ymRKPsyO8XVTGPcHwB_4155em1ljSMmVhlLPuntjSaRTIMMEVIOBeyjbwq683Vn_1XXtLS_RQGYANO4W06fBNzI9x1LeTgzgAbi7/s320/420602311_10224457395121957_5167846426515727027_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Time to stitch!</div><br /><p><br /></p>Deb Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04206921657695916898noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763380526259722932.post-74249514961632609482024-01-15T09:04:00.002-05:002024-01-15T09:04:54.557-05:00Flower garden hexagon progress<p>There was a lot of sewing yesterday! 168 blocks were sewn together into a 72x84 top. I need it a little bigger to fit my bed, so it is shopping I will go to find an outer border. I think it will get a small yellow one, then either black or a black with butterfly's if I can find it and a yellow border when done. All subject to change of course!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgShAnUTn4tq_XU76EUt728-oniqGfg6fTxHB8lY_m78KG-ELVNFKpC7dDswe7GK5kfILJJ2Han04ZU4b_H2DKvy8bcZD1JDwpiHvNgpjxPBftikIYaTvyXmg2iVclfCpAK5Y2K1pnlMdSI9WU6Cd8BcjwOIZQSrq0avAtTBNHommQeOup61DmPkgGBrEda/s2048/419728553_10224443201087115_8339945878545696878_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgShAnUTn4tq_XU76EUt728-oniqGfg6fTxHB8lY_m78KG-ELVNFKpC7dDswe7GK5kfILJJ2Han04ZU4b_H2DKvy8bcZD1JDwpiHvNgpjxPBftikIYaTvyXmg2iVclfCpAK5Y2K1pnlMdSI9WU6Cd8BcjwOIZQSrq0avAtTBNHommQeOup61DmPkgGBrEda/s320/419728553_10224443201087115_8339945878545696878_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Deb Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04206921657695916898noreply@blogger.com7
