Light and dark blue. Hmmmm what if I made some more?
I had played with the blocks in the corners... but I didn't like how they looked. I had to piece the light blue to make the block big enough.
I had it laid out after sewing it together. Someone came in to the sewing area and asked - Did you make that today? Yes, was my reply. A little grin and she swooped down and grabbed it and ran off. After I tidied up a bit I checked in her room to see this..... I did warn her it is not hers......
These two fabrics were leftover from Sally's graduation quilt. A light sky blue and a dark blue that I use in a lot of things.
Eventually it will get pressed and trimmed. It should be around 35 or 36 inches... so I'll have to figure out how to make it a wee bit bigger for a lap quilt. Maybe a pretty floral blue and yellow print all around the outside?
Love this in blue! Somehow I missed this on Joy's blog but I have the tutorial bookmarked now. Thanks! ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteI love that block!
ReplyDeleteOh I love how that looks. The geometric quality of that really appeals to me.
ReplyDeleteI must go visit that link and see what is going on there!!
ReplyDeletelove your blue blocks and how you have them set up and apparently a little Miss that lives in your house does too!!! at least the kittens or the new chicks didn't claim it--:-)
take care--
luv, di
I love those blocks - they are perfect for a two color quilt like that. The solid blocks in the corners work great! A border would probably work really well on it, too. I've thought if I could find the perfect layer cake, I would use it for those blocks. Looks like someone thinks she needs a new quilt!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the fact that you came up with an alternative setting for your Magic Star 2-fabric blocks! Who WILL get the quilt, Deb? SEW funny that Em ran off with the completed quilt top. :o))
ReplyDeleteThat is very cool! I saw that tutorial and am still tempting to try it in miniature!
ReplyDeleteI would love to be able to make this quilt. Where would I be able to get the pattern please.
