Hand quilting on a Sunday

Well, it has been a little hand quilting each day this week. I have 8 of 18 blocks quilted. I am just outline stitching in all the blocks so far.  This is my Hand Pieced Quilt Along from 2019 I did in scrappy blues and white. I love the color combo. I'm going to try red and white with this years Harmony block.

This is the last block that I finished last night. So fun to stitch these.

My trusty hoop. I have a few other ones but this is the one I prefer. I have a large oval - but I can't get my arms to the middle so it does not work for me. I also have a pvc rectangle one, but I really like this circle one. It is the perfect size for my arms and me.

Linking up with the other Slow Sunday Stitchers.  I also might have a binding to be stitching down later tonight on my Stashbuster 2020 quilt. That one got machine quilted this week.

  2. It really is fun to see the progress just a little stitching every day makes! I love the blues against the white on this quilt. Your stitching looks so even and perfect!

  3. Thanks for the hoop comments! I was taught to hand quilt using a hoop, but later found I did better without any hoop at all (requires lots of basting, though). Now I'm starting to come back to the practice of using a hoop. Whatever it takes to improve my hand quilting stitches...

  5. I don't have a hoop for hand quilting, so appreciated hearing about your experiences with different ones. Your hand-pieced quilt is looking great - so glad you're making good progress on it!

  6. Nice progress, Deb! Red and white sounds like a good option for this year's QAL. I'll be looking forward to seeing that come together.

  10. oh Deb... I LOVE your hand quilting on this quilt! It sings to me soooo much... excited to see this finished and washed and photographed... but this one I wanna reach out and touch NOW! lol
I have a round hoop I enjoy instead of the square pvc one... but I use my frame most of all because it is so convenient once set up.
Have a blessed week and happy stitching!

  11. There is something about a blue and white quilt that always tugs at my heartstrings. Yours is so beautiful, Deb. I am like you, I prefer my round hoops as well and I do have my favorites. I have several ovals, but like you say it is hard to get to some areas to quilt easily. I hope you have a very lovely week and Happy quilting.
