This is my 3rd finish this year. Not bad for the end of May. Much better than last year. This Birds in the Air quilt is the second one I've made scrappy with this pattern. One was gifted to my nephew and his wife when they got married in 2015. I always wanted one for me... so started making the blocks again with the RSC and eventually it got done. It sat on the quilt frame for hand quilting for a long time with no progress.... so I pinned it and pulled it off and did a walking foot wiggle every 3-4 inches or so across the quilt. The was enough backing to cut off for the binding in blue to finish it off.
I'm very happy with how this turned out and love the light yet warm wool batting so far. I'll try and get a better photo of it later tonight.

Hooray for another finish! This one is so pretty - I love those blocks in a rainbow of colors. I think you had a photo of your first BITA quilt in the header when I first started reading your blog, and I loved it then, too. Glad to know you're keeping this one!

ReplyDeleteWell, your quilt is beautiful, Deb. Great finish !
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful finish! Congratulations. It is so nice to know that even if you end up missing a gifted quilt, it is so much fun to make a new one. Happy summer vacation! Enjoy your last bit of time with Aidan before he is ready head off to Gainesville.
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely! I just re-read a couple of the historical Elm Creek Quilt novels where Birds in the Air blocks are an integral part of the story. It made me think I need to make some & now I see your finish, I think there are some in my future!
ReplyDeleteThere is so much color, happiness and movement in this quilt. I love it. Kudos on a fabulous finish.
