A Fall 2020 finish.....

Sophie did not want to cooperate for the photo! This one got machine quilted this afternoon and I even made and attached the binding (machine front, hand back) before I had to get the kids! It is about all I got done today with fabric. I did run to the DMV/tax collector and get the yearly tags for the vehicles after dropping kids to school. Then came home and made some cuban black beans for my lunch. Then it was trying to figure out insurance for next year..... 3 hours later I think we have a plan selected. Lets hope no one lands in the hospital because the picking was slim and the deductible is ridiculous- in the 17K range if you would believe it! I miss having health insurance through a company....

After that I deserved some sewing time so instead of playing with the new Accuquilt GO! that arrived last night ( I have run 2 sets through to see how it works) I opted to finally finish this little quilt and get it quilted. Something checked off my list! Sounds like since our temps will only be in the 50's tonight..... the kids and I will go get much needed hair cuts after dinner.

Tonights dinner is quiche - with some ham, onion, kale cheddar cheese with leftover roasted potato and sweet potato. Em is having a chicken kiev since she turned up her nose at my offering. Still getting 2 eggs a day.... must have a chat with the other 2 ladies and see why they are not laying.

Thursday....

It seems like nothing is moving along this week. Might be because I have been playing my phone games at night and in the car line rather than stitching.

Normally, Thursday is my day off. I did however log into work today for a little bit (because I said I would) to check on the status of something that ran last night for a Blitz Day change I made yesterday. It worked so I promoted it to production this morning and updated everything I needed to for it. I have not heard on the other one... I'll check on it tomorrow. We don't promote things to production on Fridays.... don't want to cause errors on a weekend! Blitz Day's at work are when we stop working on the long term projects and work on some 'little' things for the business customers that will only take less than a day to get done. We tend to do them at least once a quarter. I got a couple assigned to me yesterday and got both completed.

After that, Greg was still outside with the chickens so I headed out for a bit to hang out with him and the Chickens.

This is 8 of them. Just Rose missing from the photo, she is around the corner.

Then it was time to find the sewing machine. The quilting on the Cobblestones was started. I just did straight lines (ok, freehand with the walking foot but close enough!) on either side of the grey strip.

Took a break for lunch (last of the soup, whatever will I have tomorrow for lunch?) and to make the soft pretzel dough. I'm thinking it is 'enough' quilting on it to hold it since I used warm and natural batting. I want it soft and snuggly, not hard and stiff. I was ..... reminded ..... that someone wants to press the binding so I am not allowed to do that part yet. I will cut and sew the strips together while the dough is on the first rise so Emily can press it in half when she is home from school. I guess I can trim it up as well so it is ready to stitch on tonight.

That leaves me with project 2 today - the mini magic stars quilt.

I think I know what I want to do on this for quilting so if time allows I will start on that today as well. Might there be 2 finishes this week? Time will tell.

A very bad photo of the pretty birthday flowers that were handed to me last night when Greg got home from work. So bright and cheerful. If only I had fabrics in these colors for the new Bonnie Hunter mystery - Grassy Creek - in my stash. I think I will do it this year (we are not discussing the partially started On Ringo Lake.... but I did finish Easy Street and Celtic Solstice!)  Shopping the stash for possible fabrics will be another post....... I have ideas but we will see what I find.

Feeling better today.

The antibiotics and tylenol/advil combo seem to be working. I do know when it is time for another dose though!

Yesterday someone insisted she wanted to make binding. So I laid out the RSC 2018 quilt and we auditioned a few fabrics. We decided on grey and I had enough. I cut and sewed them together. She did the ironing to press it in half. I machine stitched it to the top. Now it is waiting to get hand stitched to the back. It will take a while - I believe this one is 70x80.

While waiting for me to cut and sew the parts together I mentioned the little magic stars were ready for their layout. She played with it and came up with this setting. These are pretty tiny - I think each one is 4 inches?

Squirrel anyone? Mini Magic Stars

Do you ever visit a blog and just know.... you have to go make that NOW! The Joyful Quilter  put a post up that I saw around 5PM. This is what happened by 8PM in my sewing room..... ok -  I had to make dinner (taco Tuesday), clean up and did get my walk in... I also walked out with Em to close up the chickens for the night. But in between all that I opened a charm pack, paired fabrics, cut and sewed...... we won't mention I was hurrying when I cut that blue/green one and someone must have turned it wrong. Oops..... something for the back!

I have plenty more to select from to replace that one. This is the charm pack I pulled. Pretty purple, blue and greens.

I just pulled the same fabrics from the boo boo one to make another.

More matched with their pair fabric underneath and all set to cut out more Mini Magic Stars.

Go ahead... run to the sewing room and make some. I won't judge, I promise!

Thank you Joyful for the fun little diversion tonight. It was so fun to make these in a small size. Big thanks to your special math guys for figuring out the hard part =).
