Slow Sunday Stitching.

I really like Kathy's idea of 'touching' multiple projects to keep them moving. I think I'll give that a try today!

I will add a few threads into this fun Snowflake embroidery from my 2024 MSQC Jenny box.

I'll add one granny square to the pile. I made two in the light blue last night.

I'll layer this little quilt for hand quilting around the sweaters or around the blocks. Probably around the blocks, I think.

Then I'll grab the seam ripper and remove these two hand appliqued butterflies from their current background. I'll plan to do all 8 of them at once with the same background. I just need to make one more for the set for a nice nine patch setting. Getting them off this background is step one.

I'll be linking up with Kathy and the Slow Sunday Stitchers. What will you be working on today?

Table Scrap Challenge

I'm going a little out of the box on this one! The challenge for November is trees and choice of color. I never got around to sewing a tree, but I had stitched one this week. I decided to make it into a little quilted ornament for the tree!  The tree is embroidered from a free pattern from Melissa.

I pulled this cute Christmas print from my new mystery box of fabric. I just sewed around and did the turn method. I hand stitched it closed. Then added some quilting stitches around the outer and inner part of the outline stitch. Some floss got added with a knot to give a hanging area. Perfect for the tree!

Slow Sunday stitching...

It is a long weekend for my household.

The kids got excited that Greg ordered a new table for the front room to move out the flying console and PC from his office to out there with the PS3. It is becoming a true game room and they are actually going through and have tossed or put things in the donate pile. I even heard the vacuum cleaner running! The big drapes that came with the house are down  and it really lightens up the room. I plan to repurpose that curtain rod to hang quilts!

For hand work - I'll be adding some hand quilting to this little table runner. I had them as square in a square but they were never happy with how I wanted to put them together so they got unpicked yesterday into flying geese and seemed happy with this layout. It is 10x15 and will finish up perfect for the little side table in the front room.

I'll also be adding some more embroidery - buttonhole stitch around the fused applique on this cute little row by row runner. I have never done this stitch before but love how it makes the ducks look.

I'll make my Hexagon for the day... and will need to prep more for this week.

Then there are the flowering snowball blocks. I did cut out another 4 blocks and figured out I only need to mark the stitching lines on the white peel part and the middle square! These are so fun to stitch with the gentle curve. I think just this block and die are so worth getting the Accuquilt GO! for my birthday. I have the 4 inch drunkard path die on my wishlist...... it comes in a few sizes but I think that one would work the best? Until then, I'll keep busy with this one and the 8 inch cube it came with.  I think I will cut out some parts each month in the color of the RSC Challenge and have the makings of a scrappy quilt later this year.

Head on over and see what everyone else is slow stitching this weekend over at Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching linkup.

Umbrella needed?

We have needed an umbrella here a lot lately! I got the pick up lines today in the rain. This blue umbrella got stitched in Emily's and the last few stitches got added on Aidan's wait time. I think his time will work better with knitting or crochet so I can be looking up... if ever the cars move! At least we got home before 5PM today (4:30). Yesterday it was closer to 5:30 when Greg got him - delayed release for an hour with thunder storms - 4:45 instead of 3:45!

Last night I tried my hand at embroidery - the Happy Little Things BOM! It went pretty well for my first stab at it! Not perfect but done enough for me! I need to rewatch the french knot tutorial and add those and the last part of the flower tonight. I hear it is game night tonight... I see Pictionary in our future.
