Saturday in green.....

You would think having both kids in school full time for three days this week I would have more done. Nope - I only got to sew on Friday. Lots of errands run on Wednesday and a whole stack of newspapers from the previous week got read after a 2.5 mile walk in the morning. I did cut lots of strips out for Celtic Solstice before getting the kids. Thursday - I dusted and vacuumed and cleaned; went to my bowling meeting that took 1 hour in the morning. That starts next Thursday - a new league to me and it will be while the kids are in school =). I got a 3 mile walk in before the temps got ridiculous. Friday..... I sewed and made a bunch of phone calls (school concerning Em's speech, pediatrician for Aidan's canker sores that keep happening, Mom and Mom-in-law a few times). Did I mention I got to sew?

It does not look like much but I have 80 of my 100 step two units done. Oh boy do these take a lot of time! They will be 3 inches finished! Notice all those 2 inch strips ready for parts of step 3,4 and 5?Not a single orange cut yet =)

These are the parts for the next 20 units of step 2 of the Celtic Solstice Mystery.

I also got to sew the sampler block posted today - Bouncing Betty. This would be a great scrap quilt unit.

Head on over to SoScrappy on Saturday morning to see the other Rainbow Scrap Challenge links. I will be busy at work on Saturday and Sunday this week - assuming people are willing to go shopping in the 100+ heat indexes we are having this week. My car temp was 100 on Tuesday when we got in the car around 4PM and that was with the windshield screen up!

On my walks this weeks I got to see the turkeys again each day and this bunny was in my yard as I was coming home from my walk on Thursday.

Oh - Emily did start school on Wednesday - this is her in her classroom. It is very scary how much she looks exactly like me at that age!

Funny how busy it can be even with the kids in school. Glad you got one sewing day in though. LOVE the colors on your Celtic Solstice. It will look even better when the oranges start to sneak in. Hope you can stay inside in the air as much as possible -- I can't believe how HOT it has been. Painful!

Nice that you were able to get some sewing time in. I recently finished my Celtic Solstice and gave it to my youngest son. It is such a great pattern. I am really happy with the way it turned out (and so is he)!

Looks like you made pretty good progress even with all the errands. Hope you get more time next week.

No green for me today. I am going to keep working on daughter's birthday quilt. Attaching the binding and hopefully some slow stitching tomorrow on the binding. Thankfully I have next week to finish my pickledish bright and light blocks. Hopefully we will see some orange soon.

With all that you had to do this past week, you still got quite a bit done. Hopefully with all of that out of the way, you'll be able to get more sewing time next week. ;-)

Oh yes. The back to school routine settling in. Love that time of year. 80 out of a 100, I'd say that IS an accomplishment. Looks good.

I'm always surprised by how much busy-work there is to do in that first week oif the kids going back to school. It's like pressing a "reset" button for the house and routine.

Your Cletic Solstice is coming along great. I printed out all the steps as they were revealed but there isn't a single unit made in this house yet!

Seems like everyone had a busy week. Hopefully it settles down soon. The Bouncing Betty block is really fun. Love that green. And Celtic Solstice will get done at some point. Hang in there!

I find the first few weeks with the kids back in school even busier than when they are home due to all the little "things" that I realize I can do with only two instead of four in tow!

Busy week. Bouncing Betty looks like a fun block for RSC. Does it measure 6.5"?
Good to see you got your exercise in. Time for quilting will resurface once all the routines are re-established.

You've been busy! Sounds like the school year is off to a fray start. We've been having some unseasonable weather, mostly mid 70-80's instead of the upper 90's.

It's been cool all summer here until this week when I decided to take a staycation and work in the garden. It's been over 100 heat index and raining most of the time so I can't even use the pool to cool off since I have no a/c.

Good luck on Celtic Solstice. I sat out the last two BH mysteries because I still don't have Roll, Roll Cotton Boll or Orca Bay quilted yet. If I ever get those finished I will join in on another!
