EMD Wednesday

I was able to finish the stitching on this block #24 of the Ella Maria Deacon Quilt Along yesterday afternoon while watching Robin Hood Prince of Thieves on Netflix.

After dinner (berber chicken and Mom's potato salad) I took a long walk and saw one wild turkey. I took a photo and posted it on facebook.

My brother in Vermont responded with this photo from his window - deer and snow!

My sister also in Vermont, raised him a photo of 8+ inches of snow and an owl from a few days ago!

I guess taking photo's of wildlife is a family 'thing'!

I hope to work on block #22 tomorrow after work. Then I'll start on the latest set of 4 - #25-#28.

Feb 18 EMD Tuesday

Well, it appears to take a lot longer than I was thinking to applique these peels down! I got half of the block done last night. Progress anyway. The new set of 4 is out and I need to download them this week. Hopefully I can get a few more stitched on in the car line today.

I did get this block done last Wednesday as well.

On my walk this morning I saw this turkey crossing the road up ahead of me. After I turned around at the end of the road, I saw 2 more on the other side. I'm guessing they were waiting for me to leave before joining this guy. Hopefully there will be baby turkeys soon. There were a set of 5 and 6 last year but I think the bear in the area had a few of them for dinner.

Purple....

I'm going to pull out the blocks for the 1857 Album quilt along that I did a few years ago over at SentimentalStitches.  It was free at the time each month over the span of 18 months. I did 36 of the blocks. It was a lot of applique. I did mine in a purple colorway of 2 purples and a green on a cream background. I had the border fleur de lis on a darker cream to frame it. I see a dark purple binding on this one eventually. This month, I hope to sew this one into a top. At least I'll be working on some purple with the RSC!

I had Aidan lay out the blocks for me. He did a pretty good job of balancing the colors. He was not sure what to do with this crest block... he said he turned it each way and decided to put the 'cow' face up! COW! Too funny.

I did a short walk with Emily this morning and we saw this flock of turkeys. We waited for them to cross the road in front of us then they were about 6-8 feet from us here on the lawn.

I took a break from work this morning to get some water and came back to this. Now how am I to sit in my chair with Ollie laying on it? Normally I sit and he lays between me and the back of the chair. Silly boy. Peanut usually lays down in his black bed.... or when he wants attention right in front of my laptop which he is blocking. Occasionally he sits on my lap and pretends to type on the keyboard. Silly boys.

We have seen a band or two of rain come through. Not bad. We played a new to me game yesterday and again today. It uses logic and strategy. I love it! It is called QWIXX. Aidan gets a little upset after a game or two when things don't go his way..... we are working on it. Emily just kicked both our butts this last game with a high score of 80! I got my 4th penalty to end the game. My strategy didn't work out this time but most of us had fun!

Em is in the pool with Dad supervision. Think I'll lay down and see if the headache goes away before I have to think about dinner.

Saturday in green.....

You would think having both kids in school full time for three days this week I would have more done. Nope - I only got to sew on Friday. Lots of errands run on Wednesday and a whole stack of newspapers from the previous week got read after a 2.5 mile walk in the morning. I did cut lots of strips out for Celtic Solstice before getting the kids. Thursday - I dusted and vacuumed and cleaned; went to my bowling meeting that took 1 hour in the morning. That starts next Thursday - a new league to me and it will be while the kids are in school =). I got a 3 mile walk in before the temps got ridiculous. Friday..... I sewed and made a bunch of phone calls (school concerning Em's speech, pediatrician for Aidan's canker sores that keep happening, Mom and Mom-in-law a few times). Did I mention I got to sew?

It does not look like much but I have 80 of my 100 step two units done. Oh boy do these take a lot of time! They will be 3 inches finished! Notice all those 2 inch strips ready for parts of step 3,4 and 5?Not a single orange cut yet =)

These are the parts for the next 20 units of step 2 of the Celtic Solstice Mystery.

I also got to sew the sampler block posted today - Bouncing Betty. This would be a great scrap quilt unit.

Head on over to SoScrappy on Saturday morning to see the other Rainbow Scrap Challenge links. I will be busy at work on Saturday and Sunday this week - assuming people are willing to go shopping in the 100+ heat indexes we are having this week. My car temp was 100 on Tuesday when we got in the car around 4PM and that was with the windshield screen up!

On my walks this weeks I got to see the turkeys again each day and this bunny was in my yard as I was coming home from my walk on Thursday.

Oh - Emily did start school on Wednesday - this is her in her classroom. It is very scary how much she looks exactly like me at that age!
