I finally got a few minutes in the sewing room this morning to finish adding the big yellow triangle to the birds in the air and the alternate birds in the air blocks. Who knew a mistake would become a new block to make? I believe I just need 7 more of these BITA blocks before I can assemble them into a top.
I've been plugging away adding a few granny squares with the grey surround this week. I laid out a few to see how they might be put together. We will see.
I've mostly been doing QAYG hexagons. I sewed a bunch of existing ones into sets of 2 and then prepped and stitched up a bunch through the week.
Saturday was a run around day. I was lazy and slept in and spent the morning browsing the internet. Then walked the dog and showered. Headed over to visit my FIL - who lives about 45 minutes away. The boy planned dinner and pulled out some fish from the freezer for fish tacos. I had the girl drive me to the big Walmart to get his requested soft corn taco shells and a few other things. I was looking for 1/2 gallon mason jars and pickling lime. I've been looking at water glassing eggs for storage since we have lots of them right now. Alas, no pickling lime.
She cleaned the chicken coop while I cooked my dinner (scallops yummy!) and then headed to Sams in the evening to get a few things and get her more night driving time.
Planned the meals for the week. Since the roaster chickens were gone (7PM!), we are going to do steak and veggies on the grill in what I call a deconstructed kabob! Peppers, zucchini, onion, mushrooms and whatever else I find in the crisper. Monday will be chicken shwarma I think. This is a new to us recipe. I've got pita in the freezer and salad things to go with it. Tuesday will be stuffed peppers. Quick and easy. I use the Spanish rice mix from rice a roni and add a pound of cooked ground beef.
Wednesday - I'm thinking $5 sushi from Publix since it is early release day, but Em has a last guard practice and 7:30 show for parents. Thursday we head to the beach for competition. The boys are on their own!

Lots of pretties in the works, Deb. I love seeing your Granny squares - they are growing. I wish Emily the best at the competition on Thursday. -- Time at the beach sounds delightful. Have a lovely week. Hugs.
Lovely yellows. Your "mistake" is turning into a wonderful project. Enjoy! ;^)
when you think of a 45 minute drive to check on your father in law that would set the whole day off for me as you are talking at least 3 hour chunk of your afternoon when you consider that is 1 1/2 hour drive total and then the time to visit and/or do errands. you get so much done - I would not have the energy for that any more. I have not seen the 1/2 gallon mason jars anywhere but Amazon
Your yellow blocks are so happy - whichever way you sew them! Looks like you're making good progress on the hexies, too. What is water glassing for eggs? I haven't heard of that! Hope you're having a good Sunday!
Your yellow blocks are really so pretty and Spring-like; and your Granny squares are looking so good together!! I am plugging away at quilting Dark Days...
We are a bit tired here after Tom's Friday surgery; but he is really bouncing back amazingly well...no pain now when he walks...
Hugs Julierose
Those QAYG Hexagons are so cute. I have the templates and a couple of the hexagons from a workshop I went to a few years ago. Wonder which drawer I put those in. LOL
