I got a lot of hand work time over the last week and my blue hexagon flowers are my proof!
I also did a quick 16 patch in light blues.
There were a few black churn dashes worked this week as well in between seams on the Celtic Solstice quilt.
Celtic Solstice took me a wee bit longer than I was thinking so next week I will take a look at all my sampler blocks and see what I come up with. Angela's is looking lovely and I really like how Sheila set hers.
I'm working this weekend so I'll check in to the RSC link party when I can.
Have a wonderful weekend.

An update on Celtic Solstice....
Well, the first two borders are on. Now to find some green for the final border. I think I will make it wider than the pattern calls for to make it a good size quilt. It is 72x72 right now and I think I'll add 5.5 inch borders to make it 82x82 before quilting.
Thoughts? Opinions? I had to add a couple of units to make things fit on the pieced border - mine are 22 and 24 instead of 21 and 23.
Mom just weighed in and does not like the green.......
Maybe a 2 inch green, a 1 inch orange and then a 3.5 inch medium blue? Hmmmmm. Must check and see what I have to work with.

Only the borders to go on Celtic Solstice!
It's a good thing I checked those four patches before I laid them out - I had to fix those two that I noticed were wrong last week. Since I hate sewing long seams..... I decided to do it as I went. I sewed two rows at a time and then sewed the rows together. It made it much more manageable and when I had four rows together....it was over half done and easy to continue! I'll have to remember that.... I usually just do the rows and then it sits for a while since I hate sewing long rows together.
I just need to finish piecing the middle border and cut the inner and outer borders out. A job for tomorrow I think. Yes Mom... the floors got swept and mopped and the living room got cleaned. Progress =)
It was clear out the crisper for dinner - I made a veggie spaghetti sauce and threw in the proscuttio leftover from the meatloaf earlier this week. It came out pretty good and used up the pepper, mushrooms, onions and scallions hanging around with some of my canned tomato's. No recipe - I just tossed things in and that was dinner. I made a loaf of french bread to go with it...... Must stop eating it! It is way too good. Good think I halved the recipe so I only have one loaf (well, half a loaf left!).

Tiny Tuesday....
This week I made a block called City Light Guards. Why it took me 10 minutes to figure out how to put the triangles onto the red parts I do not know! It looks like the book picture and it 6.5 inches unfinished so I am calling it done.
A shot of all the Civil War blocks I have made this year. I have 64 blocks which in an 8x8 setting would be ok to be done... but I want a rectangle to I'll make a few more blocks over the next two months. I have them laid out as 7x9 in the picture..... that would work too I guess =).
I have voted today and now I must head into work so the guys can deliver a spa!
Have a great day.

Design wall Monday.....
I have about 6 or 7 blocks left to make for Celtic Solstice but I figured I'd lay a few of them out and see how it is looking while everyone else is away at work or school this morning.
Mom - I had to go back into the house and find the windshield scraper this morning... there was frost on the windows, roofs of the houses and the grass! It is November 3rd..... in FLORIDA for goodness sake. Thank goodness we are back to the 80's mid week. Had to pull out the kids winter coats this morning.
Off to pre-vote since I get to work tomorrow. Then a quick run to the store to pick up some deli meats and the rest of the things for meatloaf tonight. I'm doing the spinach, provolone and proscuttio in the middle tonight for a change of pace. I made the standard Betty Crocker one I grew up with the last couple of times. Au gratin potato's and a veggie or two will round out the meal. I baked off a bunch of pie pumpkins yesterday so I'll be making Aidan's pumpkin pudding for dessert.... I even picked up the spray cream this morning when I was running errands. Spoiled boy.
I realized I've never posted the recipe on the blog! In case someone wants to make this here it is. I got this from a dear friend Rita up in Vermont. Aidan absolutely loves this.
Pumpkin Maple Pudding.
Oven at 325 degrees. 2.5 quart dish.
1 - 16 ounce can pumpkin (I use fresh pureed pumpkin)
1 - 12 ounce can skim evaporated milk
3/4 cup Vermont maple syrup
1 egg
2 egg whites (I've been know to just put 2 eggs total in!)
1 Tablespoon flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 1/4 teaspoon ginger
1/8 teaspoon salt.
Mix together in a big bowl. Grease the dish. Bake for 1 hour - pudding will jiggle in the middle.Take out of oven and sprinkle with nutmeg and 1/4 cup chopped pecans (I leave the pecans out!).
Bake 5-10 minutes more until a wooden pick comes out clean. Cool - cover and refrigerate.

Slow Stitching Sunday.
The new header photo was taken Saturday morning on Satellite Beach at sunrise. A beautiful sight.
It was rather chilly on the beach but the kids had fun building sand castles with moats and swimming in the heated pool. I even got to meet Angela from SoScrapy who so kindly popped over to the beach so the kids could enjoy their beach time while I visited.
Today I will be doing a little hand stitching of some blue hexagon flowers as I am riding home. Some beach pictures to share with all of you with snow this weekend. It was chilly with the breeze and temps in the very low 60's. Very unlike the 80's we had the rest of the week.
What will you be hand stitching today? Head on over to Kathy's Quilts and see what other slow stitches are being taken today.

RSC Saturday .... in November!
I'm finishing up Octobers dark colors since I had a few RSC blocks to make.
I laid out the RSC blocks on the floor the other night to see what colors I needed. I think it is coming along nicely - I had 92 blocks at this point before adding the above RSC blocks. I believe for a 10x10 setting that Angela is planning I need 100 blocks. Almost there - two to go!
I am all prepped for weekend hand work with all these pretty light blue hexagons to work on.
Head on over to SoScrappy and see what everyone has been up to this week.
