Sunday.....

The end is in sight! All 8 sections are pieced. Now to stitch all those sections together to get a finished quilt! All hand pieced and stitched starting in Jan 2021 with one per day 'ish'. My quilt as you go hexagons have 384 hexagons with a 2 inch finished size. It is 68x88 inches - so a very large quilt! I used extra warm and natural batting pieces for the batting on this - a great use of those cut off edges from other quilts.

I finished up the last section on Wednesday and then the kids and I headed to the beach for a few days. Hubby had to stay home and continue with his college online classes.... and took care of the animals. We go over to Cocoa Beach since hubby used to live on Merritt Island in the 90's and worked for a company with offices on the beach in Cocoa.

Some beach sunflowers on the walk to the beach.

Florida Sea Grapes - planted as a wind break and to help stabilize the sand dunes.

Thursday night was a full moon at the beach.

Friday - jumping the waves. They went and got the boogie boards after this. The waves were great for that.

Sunrise Friday morning. Not quite above the clouds at this point.

I love watching all the birds at the beach.

I remembered to bring the Bocci Ball set this time. We played a bunch of this at the beach.

The Falcon 9 rocket launch very early Saturday morning (12:42AM) from the beach. The boy was very happy. The rumble of the rocket is amazing.
After a great nights sleep in our own beds, I am enjoying my last day of vacation with a little sewing. Linking up with Kathy and the other Slow Sunday Stitchers.

Friday - returning home from a quick trip to the beach!

Not a single stitch was taken. We did play one hand of Monopoly cards. I think the Ocean and the sun tired everyone out and we were too exhausted to do much of anything in the evenings!  The sound and sight of the waves of the Ocean was the perfect end of summer for us before the kids head back to school next week. I really did not get too many photo's. I was too busy soaking in the sun, sand and the restorative sound of the ocean.

I think this one is my favorite photo from this morning. We were walking back to the room (to go grab my purse and hit Dunkin for my coffee fix!) and I turned around and snapped it.

These were on the walk from the hotel to the ocean so we passed by them a lot.

There was a flock of birds on the sand and they all flew up when we approached this morning before the sun came up.

The kids on the boogie boards yesterday. Wednesday it was red and purple flag with a good rip current but it was a yellow Thursday and they spent the morning and first half of the afternoon in the water. We grabbed subs from Publix for lunch and I might have sent Greg and Em back into the store to get a sand kit for making sand castles.... ok, so I'm an almost 50 year old kid! I love playing in the sand on the beach. Em and I started playing with them then both kids were building so I settled in my chair in my tent to read my book. Kept them entertained for over an hour before they went back out for the waves when their Dad came down to the beach.

After a 2 hour drive home this morning, a stock up on groceries and checking in on all the animals I am ready to relax a bit. A couple of loads of laundry are spinning and dinners are planned for the next few days. I pulled Carnita meat from the freezer and will make some fresh salsa, guac, rice and black beans for dinner tonight. Tomorrow is eggplant parmesan since the eggplant looked great. Em gets roasted cauliflower instead =). Sunday is sheet pan chicken with potato and fresh green beans. I enjoyed eating out for a few days but it is nice to get back to cooking.

Home again...

Laundry is spinning. Guinea pigs have been fed, cuddled and are enjoying munching on food in their play yard. One cat has ventured out for cuddling, brushing and made sure her food dish was filled.

Relaxing time...although the kids seem to think they are hungry and Mom should know what dinner will be! Geez, I guess vacation is over.

Some shots of the sunrise yesterday from my balcony. All by myself as everyone else was sleeping.

RSC Saturday in light blue.

It has been a busy week. I did get the second blue sampler block made this week. I also made a blue scrappy backing for the Snail Trail quilt and got it pinned. Hopefully it will get quilted tomorrow or Monday so I get a June finish.

We got a little beach and pool time in on Thursday around the storms and a night of finding some crabs on the beach. We are catch and release on those!

Pool time fun!
Then the space center on Friday was a blast! (Pun intended!)

Thursday.....

Headed to see a little of this with the kids and Grandma H today. Greg has to work tomorrow.... bummer.

Tomorrow we get to go see The Kennedy Space Center. No rocket launch as it was delayed until Sunday but the kids should have a blast seeing all the space center has to offer. Hope the boys (and sisters) behave as this is a boy scout outing. The kids and Greg will be able to see the rocket in the air from our driveway on Sunday morning.

I just hope I survive. The cold Emily shared with me really drains your energy. I didn't even want to sew yesterday and I had a great opportunity to quilt a quilt. Oh well, there is always next week. Hopefully the resting yesterday will help me get through the next two days. Thank goodness Grandma will be with me to help keep the kids herded and entertained.

Slow Stitching Sunday.

The new header photo was taken Saturday morning on Satellite Beach at sunrise. A beautiful sight.
It was rather chilly on the beach but the kids had fun building sand castles with moats and swimming in the heated pool. I even got to meet Angela from SoScrapy who so kindly popped over to the beach so the kids could enjoy their beach time while I visited.

Today I will be doing a little hand stitching of some blue hexagon flowers as I am riding home. Some beach pictures to share with all of you with snow this weekend. It was chilly with the breeze and temps in the very low 60's. Very unlike the 80's we had the rest of the week.

A chilly morning walk after watching the sunrise.

Emily hit the beach as soon as we checked into the hotel on Friday night.

What will you be hand stitching today? Head on over to Kathy's Quilts and see what other slow stitches are being taken today.
