Stormy weather...

Well, we finally got rid of the awful hot, hazy and humid 90 degree weather we have been having since Saturday but had some awful thunderstorms yesterday afternoon. They even issued tornado watch in Vermont! That never happens! We did get walluped with a couple of storms, the first one knocked out our power about 2:30 yesterday and we did not get it back until 12:40 this morning. I really missed electricity, but was thankful that the temp outside went from 101 (probably in the sun) to 71.4 in about 15 minutes! The house was still 80 on the first level and 86 on the second.... so I took Aidan outside once the rain stopped and strolled around the yard.

No sewing during the heat wave but I did get most of a charity quilt top pieced last week. Just need to add the borders and will post a picture when I get that done.

A Turtle!!!!!

Just had to share my morning 'find' with all of you. I was making Aidan's bottle this morning before I went to get him out of the crib....looked out my kitchen window and saw a turtle in the back yard! Here he is.... boy did he move fast too! Glad I ran and got my camera when I did or he would have been long gone.

long time since the last post...

It has been a long week and not too much accomplished. I did manage to figure out how to make a cover for our foot rest. I finished it last night and just need to add some batting around the sides to cushion the metal for possible Aidan falls once he starts moving around. It turned out ok, but took longer than I thought it would....everything seems to be that way! Here is a picture of it before I add the padding underneath.

I did manage to get Aidan's pictures taken at Sears last week. He was pretty good for them so we get the pictures back on Thursday. I can't wait to see them.
Oh, the geese came back and I got a better picture of them. Here it is.
***edited *** The daddy is a little farther down the road. I did not get him in this shot.

Duck, Duck, Goose....

Have you ever looked out the front window and saw a Momma goose walking up the street followed by 5 gooselings (ducklings?)? Well, I did this morning. I heard a 'honking' and checked to see what it was and she was just walking up the road (the correct side and everything) followed by her kids. I took pictures but they didn't come out well even with the zoom on. Now, I am just in a little development but still, that is not something you see every day.
Just waiting for my mulch guy to arrive so I can head out to the gym. Aidan is squaking so I guess nap time is over.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Tuesday

It has been a while since I posted and sad to say I have not done any sewing.... So, here is a picture of some triliums in our woods this weekend.
I also have an updated picture of the boy... sorry for the red eyes I did try to auto correct them but it didn't help. They are still blue but look a little hazel by the center. . Time for a stroller ride, maybe that will put him to sleep as he has not taken a nap other than the little sleep on the 30 minute ride home from the gym around lunchtime. Happy quilting all.

I was tagged!

Michele has tagged me.

Here are the rules:
1. Pick up the nearest book.
2. Open to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people, and acknowledge who tagged you.

Well, I picked up the new quilt book from Nancy, called 'The Thimbleberries Book of Quilts' and page 123 is a picture of a quilt called 'Around Town'. Please play along if you would like to.

No sewing this week or really much of anything...Anyone know where my week went? I did go to the gym yesterday and played in the pool. Then Aidan went to his first grocery store...I guess I should have brought the bottle in since he started fussing as sonn as he woke up! So, I was pretty quick picking up a few things as he was screaming...thank goodness it is still fairly quiet (according to a couple of shopping ladies who reassured me that he wasn't as loud as I thought he was!) and putting my pinky in his mouth was settling him down a little. Today, we ventured to the mall to have lunch with some former coworkers. He did really good... no crying! I got to eat food while it was hot and everything! Then we wandered around a bit and he was really good. I did bring his bottle this time and it was a successful trip.
Off to do laundry...since he is on onesie number 5 today.... I think it will be a sewing night tonight, Mommy deserves some time in the sewing room.
Happy quilting all.

A new project...

I have a new project and I am so nervous! I just bought $72 in fabric to create a cover for a 'cube' which will be our footrest instead of the current coffee table. I have the current cover as a example...but have never done anything like this! I went to the furniture and drapes fabric store and was so overwhelmed looking at all the fabric. I finally found a pretty blue with leaves that should go well in our blue living room and isn't too 'girly'. I hope to cut the pieces tonight and then we'll see how it comes out! Wish me luck.
