Monday questions.... Easy Street

I pulled out Easy Street this afternoon and auditioned some fabrics for borders. This top has decided it wants to get completed sometime soon. The quilt is together  at this point and is about 83x83. I want it a bit bigger for my bed.
I was thinking an inner border of the light tan print with the maroon for the outer border. Another option is brown and then maroon.

There is always the choice of tan or brown for the inner border and green for the outer border.

Mom likes the tan with green. I think maybe the brown for the binding. Which way would you go?

  2. I really like that brown ... so if I'm going to vote for the brown for the narrow inner border, I vote for the green outer border. ;-)

  4. Green is always the best! I like the brown or a tan for the narrow inner border.

  5. Have you got a nice blue for the inner border ?I'm thinking it will pick up the blues in the blocks. Trust me to be different. Then whatever looks best for the bigger border. Well done for getting this far - mine has been boxed :-( xx

  6. I have several quilt tops that have decided to be completed soon. Maybe over the summer?
Your Easy Street is really pretty.

  7. I like the tan and the green together, but the blue would be nice as well as an inner border if you have any. I think there isn't enough contrast with the brown to make it stand out against the red, though it blends nicely if that is what you are going for. Congratulations on getting it to the flimsy stage. Hope you get the borders on right away so it can be almost done.

  8. Neither choice provides enough contrast between the two borders. The inner border would be better in a medium or light value. The red or green border would work well with a lighter (again medium or light value) fabric.

  9. Definitely go for the green. I would do a lighter tan for the inner border and the brown as the binding. Some contrast is needed.

  10. I love how you changed the Easy Street colors. I really think the red makes the colors in the quilt pop more than the green border. I would use a lighter tan for the inner border, too. Whatever you do, it will be gorgeous.
