Thursday

Dinner is in the crock pot. Trying a new recipe - Carnitas! I'll let you know how it comes out!
***Edited - this meal was a hit. Both kids kept eating it off the pan as I was pulling it and each had seconds (they put theirs on a burger bun - silly kids!). I had mine with rice, refried beans and pico. Very yummy and both kids added the recipe to the rotation. I have a spicier for pulled pork and this is a mild one with a nice flavor.... love the sauce. ***

I have a 5 pound bone in pork shoulder so we will see. I got a bottle of coke at the store yesterday as she said to get the one with cane sugar if you can. I should have enough left for a couple of freezer meals.  I have some corn flour in the pantry so I might try and make corn tortillas.... we will see how the day goes!

My day off today. Emily is being dropped to horse camp today by Dad right now. I'll pick her up at 3. So, the boy was looking to see what we could do. With things being closed, the heat for the outside stuff and nothing jumping out at us.... we are heading to Lowes - with masks on - to get mulch and home defense spray. Maybe if he gets out of bed sometime soon, we can trim some bushes out front before it gets too hot? Afternoon might be some sewing on his apron and pool time?

I found these at the bottom of a basket on Sunday and trimmed them to 2.5 inches. I have 15 of them. No, I can't find an extra one and don't have more of those fabrics to make another..... So instead of a 16 patch block with them..... I set them on the diagonal. Hmmm that leaves me with 2 extra - for the back maybe? I have some black scraps hanging around near them.... maybe I'll get to play with this little guy today?

Ooh, the carnitas sound delicious! You'll have to let us know how it turned out. Is horse camp a daily event? I bet that is perfect for Emily. Pool time sounds good, too! That looks like a fun squirrel project to play with - will you use the black for setting triangles?

let us know about the carnitas - I need a good easy recipe for that. I love those scraps. I need more mulch at Lowe's and Mike will get that next time he wants to venture out - we don't venture out often and keep a running list for when we do

I agree the carnitas do sound delicious. If you have not already put the blocks together; take the other 2 apart. From the 2 sides of point with black to make setting triangles for the 4 sides. Just a suggestion. Violet!
