In between cleaning up the house (playroom and sewing rooms are atrocious!) I plan to take a few breaks today and relax with some slow stitching. I have a feeling the boy will want to snuggle up with a movie at some point as he is a little off today when his medicine runs out. He started feeling poorly last night as Dad picked him up from Grandma's around 5. Chills and achey with a fever and sore throat. :( He woke me at 6 AM for some vicks for his chest so he could breathe, a dose of medicine and a cover him up .... he slept until 8! Unheard of for him.
I have 15 blocks quilted out of 49 on my Hugs and Kisses quilt. I started block 16 this morning.
I also hope to finish the appliqué on my ruffled heart today. I have the inner part done. I just need to stitch the outer heart. I am using back basting based on this tutorial over at sentimental stitches.
Hop on over and check out the other slow stitchers at Kathy's Quilts today.

Yum! Are you changing threads every block when quilting the seed shapes? Every time I see you working on this, it makes me want to finish my blocks so I can get quilting it!
Enjoy your stitching - both projects are looking good.
Both projects look great and I hope he feels better soon!

I've been meaning to try that exact back basting tutorial for applique. What a sweet heart. I love anything valentine!
I use back basting all the time and makes it easy to stitch. Love the heart.
I like what I see on your seed quilt. Sorry to hear you have one that is sick. Last week I was talking to someone who had the dreaded flu and he still had the cough. Thought for sure my husband or I would get it but we have been lucky so far. Enjoy your stitches today!
I'm so sorry to hear that it sounds like you've got a "sickie" at your house. :-(
However, I do like that little peek of your quilting on your Hugs and Kisses. I can't wait to see your heart finished (and will admit that I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with "hairy" fabric ... I thought it was just me and that I was doing something wrong).
Hope your son feels better... really loving the hand quilting progress... how are you enjoying back basting? I think I may try that method sometime.. I have looked at the tutorial as well in the past :) Thanks for the link though! Kathi
