Slow stitching Sunday......

I had high hopes to be binding today.... but when you get to the last part of pinning and realize you are 1 inch short on the batting.... I need to pull out pins and start again later today. Oh well, there is always other projects to work on!

My hand stitching today will be a few more green squares onto the forest green trip around the world block. Yes, just a few more squares to add and I'll have 8 of these completed. That leaves one more to do - in teal I think. I'll be adding a few this morning while Emily is watching a Curious George movie.

I also have a few more stitches to add to the midget appliqué from last week - those little yellow bits are very intimidating!

Head on over Sunday morning to Kathy's Quilts to see what slow stitching is happening all over the world.

Oh - My last post was asking which background to use for my Dresden plates....if you want to take a peek and share your thoughts....

Oh no! I hate when I get to the end of pinning and the batting or backing is to short. Have you ever pieced batting with Heat Press? It works great and I have done it while the quilt is being pinned. Just slid an ironing surface underneath the batting and pressed away. Now a too short backing isn't quite as easy. Good Luck! ~Jeanne

I like those greens in your block! I know it is frustrating to be one inch short on the batting, I'm sure you can fix it.

How frustrating it must be to come up short. Grrr But the upside of working on more than one project at a time is that you have something else to keep you busy.

I'm slowly but surely getting caught up on blog reading and I'm sure I'll chime in on the Dresden background. ;-)

I had to chuckle at the word 'intimidating' ...aren't those small pieces hard to deal with!! Then again, if I am doing large blocks it feels as if I've been sewing a stem or what-you-have forever! :) Happy Stitching today...I just rescued the birds from the completely frozen birdbath and gave them fresh water. They are as indignant as I am about this cold spell, ha ha!

Enjoy your hand stitching today.
I think all of your background choices work for your dresden plates.

Oh what an aweful feeling to come up short! It's happened to me also! I know what you mean about the yellow on your midget block. Had those flower centers on Baltimore Garden.

How frustrating on the batting!! But at least you have some other projects on the go to get on with too. The applique is especially pretty.
