Cat and light brown. Check!
I found this free cat pattern to make a cat block in a square. I pulled some scraps in light brown and dark brown to make the cat. Then decided it would make a nice placemat, so I pulled some paw prints from the black scrap pile. Some dark blue from the mystery box a few years ago for the backing, and it was time for quilting.
I just did a diagonal one way on this. I cut a few more scraps for a binding and hand stitched it down during a quarterly staff meeting on Wednesday.
The finished placemat. I believe it is 12x18.
With my morning coffee. Linking up Friday with Joy and the TSC!
Tuesday evening I was at one of the local schools where all 8 of the county high school marching bands performed their routines for each other. This was not a competition, but a chance for them to do a run through their program before MPA (Music Performance Assessment) November 2, and see how they stack up to their local bands. It was great to see them cheering each other on. There were a couple of past judges who gave each band some input on their music and performance, things to work on in the last week. Emily was listening to the critique recording last night and came out laughing. Very nice, Very nice.... I guess their music was Very Nice! All 8 bands did a great job and all looked really good. The 8 music directors of each school are on the track in front of them. Grandma came up to Ocala and watched them with me. We got to the stands about 6:30 and headed home close to 9. Must remember the seat cushions next time. Lets hope a new storm does not develop and bother the November 2 weekend activities.

:) yes remember the seat cushions - those bleachers are not made for comfort!!
Love that kitty pattern--I am going to try it..I need something to spur me back to piecing...
Nice that Emily liked the performance...a lot of work goes into those.
My DH wrote arrangements for our High School Band to perform when he was teaching...and they won a lot of competitions..;))))
You bring back a lot of memories when my kids played in the marching band...Jeff played trombone and Candice flute...
Good memories...hugs, Julierose
Wanted to say "HI"--and that I have been reading your posts--just not been able to comment--my mood hasn't been great--but I am trying to improve that--Glad Emily is enjoying all the music and band work--and I love your kitty place mat--
hugs, di
Your cat placemat is cute as can be! I've seen some RSC quilts made out of those cat blocks and they're really fun. Sounds like Emily's band is doing well! We used to go to all the marching band competitions when our kids were in high school. You're making me miss them - but not the hard bleachers! :)
Super cute cat placemat, Deb! Thanks for linking up with the TABLE SCRAPS Challenge. Best of luck to Em and the band during MPAs next week!
