Full Stop

Question? Lots of questions with the start of school this year. Linking up with the RSC.

Marion county Florida did put a mask request in with a parent opt out effective Thursday Aug 19th.  I am waiting to see what the numbers are on Monday in our schools for this past week. According to the district 3300 of 42,000 children are opted out of wearing one but the kids say it is about 50% wearing/not wearing in their classes. Our open house has been rescheduled from Aug 26 to September 16th. Hopefully our local numbers are in control at that point and the hospitals are not overrun. In January.... 170 patients in the 3 Ocala hospitals for COVID was overwhelming staff. It has been over 300 all this week. I hear ER room waits are currently 12+ hours to be seen. Things are not good down here in Florida.

Emily and I did mask up and attend her beginning band meeting last night and we came home with a clarinet! I get 3 concerts this year. We will see how she does. I played clarinet from 5-12th grade in school! Aidan plays guitar but does his lessons through Guitar Center.

Our plans for today.... or rather the other 3 in this household will be making California Rolls for dinner - sushi! Greg saw a kit for about $10 and ordered some of the supplies. I had cucumber, avocado and picked up imitation crab for the inside. I wonder what I will find for dinner tonight as the three others will be having the above!

good luck in the health department - it is crazy awful in Arkansas too - one of my great nieces is sick with covid and she is on a waiting list to get the monoclonal infusion - the infusion itself takes 2 hours in outpatient and she called for the appointment on Thursday and can't get in for it until Monday!! She is on immune suppressants like I am but not as much as I am, she has a type of RA and only 30 years old she isn't feeling good but not bad enough to be in the hospital. She is vaccinated.
I hope you and your family stay healthy

Your question marks are a perfect sign of the times! I'm sorry the situation is so bad in Florida - I guess that's true in many areas. It's hard to believe we are still dealing with this after all this time, especially with another school year. Hope your kids do well in spite of the Covid/mask issues and are able to stay safe and healthy!

Sending you hugs and l9ve from Canada. We wear masks and we find it has made a huge difference, even with our region double vaccinated. Hang in there, supper tonight will be interesting to see. Enjoy!

thanks to governor de santis
vaccines keep people alive mostly but masks stop the spread. To ignore a health crisis is nothing short of insanity and a sign of not caring about others.

Here in Brevard county we are averaging over 650 cases per day--(the last surge it was only 450 and that was just a week or so) this time it has been over 3 weeks with this many cases per day--so what is going on--it can't just be the unvaccinated spreading it--it doesn't make any sense to me at all--
I have not stopped wearing a mask--and was going out a bit--but now--am back to staying in--boring--good thing I have sewing to do!!!
Do be careful and hugs those kiddo's for me!!
hows our chicks doing???
hugs, di

My thoughts and prayers are with you for school and Covid. I am in denial about how decisions are made in your state. Your question marks are perfect for the dilemma. Keep on quilting. And good luck with the clarinet and guitar. I played flute and still have it although it was passed to me from Mom. Both my kids and husband play percussion. It didn't get too bad until middle school when they gained confidence and went in the jazz band.

My prayers are with you! Our hospitals are full, as are all the hospitals around us in the state, Four kids returned to school this week, and they say maybe one or two other kids wear masks, and that’s it. There’s lots of mask washing and avoiding errands happening right now!

Beautiful question marks, and just the perfect block for now. In France, school is going to start in one week and half (teachers on the first of September, students on the second). It's better if kids can be vaccinated (older than 12 years old), but it's not mandatory. They will wear a mask in class, even the youngest ones.
Take care and stay healthy

Your question marks look awesome in AQUA, Deb! Scary times for sending people off to school. Hoping your kids stay safe!

Good luck in the health department. We're without masks this year at work and at school thanks to our governor. We've had a few cases at work, but those who are vaccinated did not get it. Mathew's teacher has it, so he'll start the year with a sub. Mikaela is playing clarinet too! She's excited to start. I played from 5th - college - best part of my college experience was the marching band.
