Slowing down Sunday

There will be a little slow stitching and prepping today! I need to cut some more white parts so I can finish hand stitching block #8. There might be 49 of these for a 84x84 quilt top. We will see though! I'll also prep another 2 blocks for piecing today.

I really do plan to get some stitches in on this quilt on the frame. It has been sadly neglected with the concentration on the hand piecing.... and helping with homework and ag projects!

My OMG for September is to start the applique border plans for the yellow. I 'think' I have a plan for these so I need to prep some vines today and maybe some flowers and leaves.

Aidan wanted to make a cake so he did a red velvet cake yesterday (and cleaned up and washed his dishes after!). Both kids were 'decorating' it when I got home from Aldi's yesterday. They did Labor Day for the holiday! It is currently half gone =0!

Yes, we seem to have acquired 4 new baby chickens this week. 2 easter eggers and 2 barred rock chicks. The older 4 were feeling neglected on the blog - so Emily and I extended their area a bit this morning to give them some grass to eat as there is none in their enclosure. They ate a bit but were happy to walk back into their area after a little while.  These are about 10 weeks old now.

Linking up with the other slow stitchers on this hot and humid Labor Day Weekend in Florida.

Some more lovely blocks to stitch. Gosh this quilt is going to have a lot of these blocks; such a lot of work. I must say that cake looks totally wicked. Red Velvet.....yum!

That cake made me smile and brought back good memories of baking with kids :)
Love your hand piecing project! Very ambitious goal, but will be a totally stunning quilt! Enjoy!

Yummy!!! I dug through my ruler drawer and found a Marti Michel hexagon Template that will work the same way, but it is not as big as the one in the Missouri you tube- but it will work just as well.

There is another project that I did years ago that might also be a great SAL. I may start that one - it is so EASY!

Your hand-pieced blocks are going to use up a lot of scraps, I think! They're going to make an amazing quilt! Have fun getting in a few stitches on your other projects, too. Yummy cake, and impressive that he cleans up, too!

Those Endless Diamond blocks look fabulous. Hopefully you get some stitches in on your frame quilt and I'm looking forward to seeing what plans you have for the border. Those chickens are pretty cute.
