I got the inner circle cut and hand stitched to the wings for the red butterfly. I think I picked the black for the bodies of these and just need to cut out 9 of them and then I'll start the process of hand applique to the background and adding some embroidery antenna as well.
I had forgotten I planned to use the crossed canoe die this year for the RSC. I pulled this red and some white dot print and quickly stitched up this 9 inch block. I think I will pull another red and make one more - 2 each month for 10 months will make 20 blocks. 36x45 will make a nice baby size quilt I think.
I still need to make some little nine patch blocks using 1.5 inch squares for the eventual Jacks Chain quilt. That will be this week's project I think.
I continue to stitch together the hexagons I was making last year. The second section of 12 is now stitched together. 2 down and 6 to go!
Linking up on Saturday morning with the RSC.

Those Dresden butterflies are going to be magnificent!
Both crossed canoe and dresden are so pretty in the reds. I have a baggie of red strips that were gifted to me waiting to be sewn...[this not being able to sit and sew is driving me up the wall!!;000]
Anyway..I hope you have a great weekend...
Hugs, Julierose
Red and white quilts are always pretty but these squares are gorgeous. That butterfly is going to be striking! ~Jeanne
I like that crossed canoe block I don't have that one but have the Lemoyne Star ordered and might make one or two of those blocks up if I get it soon to add to my red groups
Love the crossed canoe block! Looks like it turned out perfectly. The butterfly blocks are going to make a fun quilt - are you appliqueing the wings down? Happy Saturday! Is it time for GS cookies yet? I have to figure out where to get some.
Nice progress on your RED scrap projects, Deb! You really seem to be making quick work of the hexi project, too. Way to go!!
I can't wait to see the Dresden Butterflies come together. Crossed Canoes will make a great baby quilt.
Great scrappy work al the way around! How did you like working with the Canoe die? I have it but haven't used it yet. Love the hexies, will have to read back to see how you finish the edges of them like that.
I love the crossed canoes! I have that die, too, and I've been itching to use it. Your quilt sounds like it will be lovely.
Love the canoe blocks. They look so complicated. I'm sure they'll make a sweet baby quilt in all the RSC colors!
