Scrappy Saturday in black.

This week the 16 patch block got made from some 2.5 inch squares. This nice black and grey one will join all the other rainbow colors.

I also decided to finally sew together the blocks that I was making last year as 2 inch pairs, with no purpose, which ended up as these fun 12.5 inch blocks. I think I am just going to add some of that black dot print all around it and make a little quilt that will get donated. I used it as a backing or two and have those nice bits that you cut off around all the sides that will fit nicely onto this little quilt. Do you think it needs some of the black dot print in between each one to calm it down a bit?

Head on over to SoScrappy's blog on Saturday to see what other fun black and grey projects are being worked on this week. As for me... I work Saturday but I hope to get a little machine quilting in on Sunday if I can ever get some time to pin a quit or two for quilting. Who knows, maybe this black one will get finished off this weekend! I would love to have a quilt to snuggle under on Sunday night while working on a binding.

I love it as is, without any dot in between!

I think it needs a very narrow sashing from the black dot print. All your rainbow blocks are gorgeous!

I hope you get in some sewing time tomorrow.

I had forgotten about the checkerboard quilt. I don't think it needs to be calmed down at all. I love it! So bright and happy! Have fun at work today. Sunday is a great day to sew.

I think your checkerboard blocks look great without adding any sashing. I love your 16-patch blocks too!

I just saw a very cool-looking quilt with postage stamp type blocks set on point, with a very thin strip of white separating each block (can't remember where I saw it, but if I can find it, I'll send the link). Using a thin strip of black between your blocks might be really stunning!

Your black and grey 16 patch is lovely, looks good with the others. As for your 12.5 inch blocks, I think they look great as is without dot sashing.

No sashing. I love the blocks just way you have them.

Sometimes a sashing makes the blocks pop more (and alleviates matching all those seams). I think you could go either way!

Looking good! I hope you can make a quick decision so we can see it all finished.
